jotan Report post Posted January 28, 2007 Firstly let me say hi... my name is Jo and i have 2 children. My 11yr old son was diagnosed with atypical autism with some dyspraxia and atypical absences 5 months ago. At present myself and some other mums are fighting to have speech therapy reinstated after cuts for over 5s in this area. They have slightly backed down.. at least until april.. but only for those who have it on a statement of needs and even they are having to still fight for it. Therefore those newly diagnosed or without a statement have little or no chance. One of the mums has already been on the news and this has raised awareness, she has also organised an online petition to goto the prime minister. I have included a link to this petition and it would be fantastic if as many people as possible could sign it and even forward it onto friends for them to sign it too. Most parents with children on the spectrum have had to fight for what should willingly be given to those who need it, and i believe in strength and unity in numbers. I saw this petition on the tazbar and didn't know it was over here - I put a posting about this somewhere else on this board.. as they say never too much publicity is bad publicity eh lol I think its the same one - think a petition about dla should be put forward also..
