Hi All , please could anyone advise me where i can get a private 3di test , my son is diagnosed with generalised anxiety disorder we are convinced more every day its is aspergers he has only ever had the ados test and was only one mark short of a disagnosis, i have exhausted camhs gp consultant and several other avenues no one will refer him for this test i have tried mp and complaining to pct local goverment ombudsman everything , i just now need to get it done and i will pay if i have to. so does nayone know where i can get a privaye yesy done please there is no other avenue open to me now and i need to do this asap, thanks bens mum2

Hi bensmum.I don't know if there is anywhere that offers the 3di privately.

The 3di is only available in a few centres. I know Great Ormond Street accept secondary referrals for a specialist opinion.However I don't know whether they accept private work.

Only some professionals are able to administer the 3di as it requires specialist training in administering the test and using the software.

A CAMHS consultant administers the 3di for our area.However she is the only professional in our area that can do it and we live in central London.

I know it is possible to obtain a diagnosis via a private assessment.However I don't know whether the 3di would be used.I think it is unlikely.Karen.

Hi again.I thought I would say.I am not sure why you are hoping to obtain an ASD diagnosis privately.

However I think that if CAMHS or the LA are not being supportive it might be worth thinking about what you might gain from having a diagnosis.

It is possible that CAMHS and the LA may not recognise the private diagnosis.So you could spend a significant amount of money and find that things are no further forward.

The 3di would take at least two hours to administer.It is unlikely to be available through a professional other than a consultant psychiatrist or psychologist so if you can find a professional it is likely to be expensive.Karen.
