Hi :)

I joined a few months ago but what with everything I completely forgot about the site but found you again today :notworthy:

My son is 8 and was diagnosed with Aspergers and ADHD last November. It took 5 years to get the diagnosis. The support from his school has been amazing but thats about as far as it goes. I really dont know much and have been online 24/7 just lately to find out and read everthing I can about this condition so I can help my son.. He has no clue that he has AS. He just thinks he is special and acts a little different to others in his class. I did try to sit him down once and explain to him what is going on but he got so upset and didnt understand anything I was saying so to save a lot of heartache and tears I left it at that and havent had the courage to put him through that again. I know I will have to tell him sooner or later....

Thanks for reading

Linzi

Hi Linzi, and welcome to the forum.

There are some very good books for helping you explain Asperger's to children.
