Tally Report post Posted March 31, 2010 It should be possible to get a second opinion in theory, but you might find that it doesn't work out that way. Your son would not be seen as a priority because he already has a diagnosis. What benefit would a second diagnosis have that you don't already have from the first one? Sally44 Report post Posted April 1, 2010 A diagnosis just affirms whether a child has enough characteristics to fit the criteria. However every child diagnosed will be affected differently. If you are talking about wanting a better idea of how ASD affects your child then you need a speech therapist, educational pscyhologist and occupational therapist to see him. These professionals should have seen him when before he was first diagnosed. Has he seen any of them since then? Is he receiving any SEN help in school ie. on School Action or School Action Plus.
