cmuir Report post Posted October 29, 2010 Hi Does anyone know what a Tier 4 CAMHS assessment is or involves? I appreciate this may vary from region to region. Thanks. Caroline.
Karen A Report post Posted October 29, 2010 Hi. CAMHS has various levels of professional input.Level 1 would equate with input provided in schools or Sure Start centres.I think level 4 equates with a highly specialist level of provision for more complex cases. It would equate with being refered to a Specialist Regional centre for surgery for a medical problem. I think when we recieved CAMHS input it was also at level 4. The exact professionals involved and the type of assessment may well vary locally depending on professionals involved and the needs of the child. However I would anticipate a high level of professional involvement from more senior professionals [probably a consultant or registrar].More than one professional may be involved. Although I can only guess. The fact that a level 4 assessment is being offered suggests that whatever problems your child has are being given careful consideration. It may be the oppurtunity to have some input from more experienced professionals. caci Report post Posted October 29, 2010 We are on the CAMHS waiting list (again, this will be our 3rd lap through CAMHS) I think we are waiting to be seen at tier 4 this time, and if we get the appointment before yours I will let you know what happens. Don't hold your breath as I have been told it could be 6 months before we are seen
