jools Report post Posted August 6, 2006 today is G's 9th birthday we have long given up on parties, instead choosing to do something as a family, and this year he chose to go to a local 'have a go archery day'. it was fantastic! it was just a turn up event, so we arrived at 10.30am and were the only ones there so the 5 of us had the place to ourselves for 45 minutes with 1:1 tuition!! the lady who was with G was fantastic. she told him what to do but allowed him to do it alone at his own pace......something she couldn't have done if other people were waiting because he did take quite a while .....bless 'im. she gave far too many instructions at first but instead of having a 'hissy fit' with frustration as could have happened he just looked blankly at her which was enough for her to change tactics and give instructions one at a time......she was an angel and he managed to hit the target aswell frustration has set in now we are back home and he can't fit in all the things he would have done had we stayed at home.....but hey! i can't have it all ways....lol
Kathryn Report post Posted August 6, 2006 Happy Birthday G! Sounds like a great day, jools,a very inventive way to celebrate. I wish we had stuck to family outings when L was growing up - parties never worked for her either! K x
