I am 34 and after recent life problems and lots of self analysis believe I could suffer from AS. However I have functioned well in most areas of my life - except relationships :-( I also believe that my friends, family and work colleagues are all aware of this and that I am the last to know !! I have tried talking to friends and family about this recently but they deny it, saying I should not self diagnose. I have self diagnosed myself with several other illnesses in the past (body dysmorphic disorder and narcissistic personality disorder) but in all 3 cases felt I have been 'guided' to these conclusions!
I have always thought my life was somewhat bizarre ... but also somewhat blessed, as though someone was looking out for me. I have a Consultation on Tuesday but want to know if there are any circumstances in which they could with hold information from me eg. if they thought I was at risk of self harm or had a better prognosis by returning to my previous functioning level.
