  1. The transition to high school is a blooming nightmare. My boy has lost a kit already, and the homework and organising has totally overwhelmed me, never mind him I wouldn't mind but he has no idea what the homework is or how to do it. A bad parent wouldn't care that they lost it. Sounds like you are doing pretty good to me. It is a hard time for all of the family when one has autism.
  2. Would any 8-21 (ish) year old with autism or asperger syndrome like to volunteer to take part in my study? I would email you an information sheet and a consent form and ask you to make a video about yourself. Under 18s would need to have a parent sign the consent form to before posting (postage paid) to me. I would be the only person to see the video and i would send you a list of topics you might like to talk about, i.e. Tell me about yourself, your hobbies, likes dislikes. Tell me about school, your friendships, the people that help you. Tell me how your ASD affects your school/social/home life. Tell me about any obsessions, characters you identify with, etc. You can talk about one, all, or none of the topics as i want to know what is important to you. Videos can be as long or short as you want. My research is aiming to impact local health, social care and education services available (or not) for people with an ASD. PM me with your email address if you think you would like to take part. Thank you for reading my post. Please ask any questions you might have here.
  3. No idea... didn't he make up Sherlock Holmes? I don't have much time for reading outside of philosophy and autism, and if i do i head straight for the Discworld.
  4. Just a year? I was thinking more of a longitudinal study over ten years or so.
  5. *drools* chocolate and red wine... now that sounds like the beginnings of a great research proposal. Thanks for that baddad. Any mod in particular? ETA: Oh i see you is a mod. PM on its way.
  6. This seems like a nice and friendly site compared to some i've browsed so i've come to play. *waves* I am a thirty year old mother of two. I have a boychild aged 11 awaiting an ASD diagnosis and a pre-teen redheaded 9 year old girl. I am still decided which is the easier to parent. I am a nurse and also a researcher and my main reason for coming to this site is to find participants. But i may stay around long term if i get comfy. Pleased to meet you. Does anybody have any objections to me advertising for research participants and if not, where would be the best place to post?
