  1. Hope the meds are having the desired affect Zosmum, though i know from my own experience that it can be difficult sometimes to find the one that suits. Hope everyone else is doing well.
  2. Hey guys. Would any of you like to tell me a bit more about bullying? I know some of you have some problems with other kids at school, and i bet everyone feels picked on at some time or other. So can you tell me in your own words: What does bullying mean? What do bullies do? And why do you think bullies behave that way?

Some of the church groups look quite good and are usually very well supervised andnice environment to get to know other kids. http://www.shape-it.org/Community/
  4. *hugs* Sorry that life is so hard right now. Are there any local support groups you could join, or specialist centres for kids with learning disabilities? There at least he would be able to make friends with a fair amount of supervision.
  5. I live in Wrexham and have two kids, one with ASD. I am also in touch with the local NAS group who would be really interested in this. They also arrange swimming sessions in a Wrexham pool every now and again where we get the pool to ourselves. I'm away for the next week but PM me your details or contact Ray Clark at Wrexham NAS, i'm sorry i don't know the number off the top of my head.
  6. Thank you so much guys. I am going away for half term week so won't be able to do replies, but if there is anything you want to tell me about please just come in and note down your thoughts.
  7. I love the humour and i love the emoticon band. I play guitar myself and we have drums and a keyboard in our house. Tell me what makes you the happiest, and tell me what makes you sad and upset.
  8. If possible can you tell me a bit more about what you like about the wrestling and lego city. Are there certain characters that you like? What about chapel, why do you go and what do you like about religion? What are your favourite bits?
  9. Can you tell me more about World of Warcraft? Is it a pc game or an online game that you play with others? What do you like about it? And what do you like about pokemon? I am sorry that you have been bullied a lot. It seems to be quite common for kids with asperger syndrome and autism to get picked on. It is very unfair. I look forward to issue 2.
  10. Hoppy is a great name. Can you tell me more about pokemon, which are your favourites and why you like them?
  11. Thanks for that. Is there anything else you'd like to tell me about? Any thing else that you feel strongly about, or hate or love? What sort of help do you get at school now? Does it help you?
  12. I'm sorry that you get teased. Why do you think they tease you? What do you like about science?
  13. Hey Andrew, I am copying all of this onto my computer, emoticons and all. But i am giving you a secret code so you are in my computer as YP8 Do you find it hard at school sometimes, even though you are obviously very intelligent and smart? Do you know what you want to be when you are a grown up?
  14. Hi Z, thank you for that. I used to have a pony called Honey when i was your age, and then afterwards when i was about 14 i got a horse, a bay thoroughbred called Jimbob. But i had to sell him. I am hoping to get another as i love horses too. If you feel up to it you can tell me about Brian if you like, and riding, and what you like about horses. I love the way they smell most of all.
  15. Thanks. It would be great if you could tell me your story. Birth, first signs, diagnosis etc. How you feel and what you have experienced. If you would like to it might be better for you to message me so it doesn't confuse this thread (or me). My boy loves youtube, he likes to search for John Barrowman and Torchwood stuff.
  16. Thanks bikemad Thank you for that. I'm sorry to here that you are bullied. Can you tell me what kind of music you like and why? And also what sort of things you look at on youtube, and what is so good about youtube?
  17. Thank you Andrew, and Cheryl. Cheryl can i use your post as well as i can use it with Andrew's comments as a mini case study? Andrew, can you tell me about the sort of help you get, for example, at school, at the hospital, at home?
  18. Agreeing with flora but not wanting to make you feel you are at fault, i think it is MORE important for these kids to have quite strict and consistent boundaries. I think it helps them to feel more secure in such an unpredictable and chaotic world. It is hard, expecially when the tantrums are much more explosive than that of unautistic children, and it takes a lot of hard work. Mostly because you have to be aware all of the time and have to stamp on behaviours almost before they have started. My boys early warning signs are that his humming increases in volume and tempo. I know that if i don't intervene or keep a close eye it will escalate. You can also get them to be aware of their early triggers and come to you before they feel the need to explode. But even with all the intervention and supervision, there will still be explosions, from them, and from us, as we are only human. Get yourself some relaxation time when you can. Is a tough job this parenting business.
  19. Thank you Alex. Thank you Alex's mum. Alex why do you think the specialist, and your mum, think you have aspergers? What do you do that makes them think that?
  20. I am currently involved in nurse education and have just finished working for the NHS. I went through nurse training a few years ago. And for me, the answer to your question is none. Though it ought to be included in general problem based learning scenarios so that there is an awareness from the outset.
  21. Andrew, i can see why you like those characters. I like them too, apart from kirby which i don't know. I like Sonic because he is cute and cool, and a little bit cheeky. And he is super fast and beats the baddies. Do you think you are a bit like the characters you like, or might like to be? Do you like that the pokemon are all different and have a special power inside? Tell me if i am completely wrong.
  22. Thank you so much Andrew. Yes it will certainly help. Are your computer games an obsession, or just an interest? Why do you like those specific ones? If you can, can you tell me the worst thing about aspergers, and the best thing?
  23. Thank you jlp (and bikemad). I like to play on my ds too, especially Sonic Rush. What do you like about Pokemon? I like Pikachu because he is cute and kind. This might be a strange question, but how can you tell you have aspergers? Does it make you different in some way? For example, better at some things, or worse at some things? Aspiesrule, that would be brilliant, thank you.
