  1. Wow What can I say? Thanks for all the replies and advice. I didn't expect to recieve so many helpful replies and so much advice. It looks like I have come to the right place. I have also been refered to a psychiatrist via my GP but I found the psychiatrist to very unhelpful. I probably had about 10 minutes of his time before he decided I was unsuitable for help on the NHS I left feeling angry and frustrated that my efforts to get help and my condition were not met with any kind of understanding. Just because I have (barely) coped so far doesn't mean I don't need help and support. I will certainly try the National Autistic Society Helpline and the DANDA. In the mean time I'll try to check in around here from time to time. Thanks again
  2. Hi I have been toying with the idea for a while now and reading about Asperger's. The more I read, the more I find that I fit the description almost perfectly. I'm 28 and I work as a software developer. Without going into much detail, these are some things I have noticed about myself: - I have a fixation with detail - I'm high functioning in things like writing, maths and computers - I have poor social skills and I am socially anxious - When I speak I sound very "geeky" - I have little respect for authority which has landed me in trouble with my parents, teachers, police and work bosses throughtout my life - I'm disorganised and forgetful - I'm an easy target for bullies and "trolls" I'm looking to find out more about Asperger's, possibly try to get a diagnosis and meet some people with similar traits to myself. I have noticed there are a lot of people posting here about their children, but are there many adults with ASDs here? Where do they all go? Rob
