  1. But you're Northerners. If you can't cope with a little rain, what hope do us Southern wussies have?:lol:

But my extra large all weather proof flat cap is at the dry cleaners :tearful:

Don't suppose there is a child friendly pub in the vicinity? :D

  2. Ok, York on the 9th August it is :thumbs:

    Dunno where though :lol::lol:

    Anyone know York well?

Like KarenT, I've been to the railway museum (which would be fab for kids that are coming), how would the adults coming alone feel about it? KarenT, put J in his karate kit anyway

I know a couple of nice Italian restaurants, but not really kiddie friendly.

    York Dungeons?

Anyone know any nice parks? But weather may be naff, so may be best to plan for rain

  3. I've been getting abit worried about the weather too, especially with having the kiddies with us.

I'm getting abit nervous about what us Baggies will do if it's raining :(

Doubley so with the tubes being affected :(

  4. It's not self indulgent Elun, your human >:D<<'>

I can't imagine our youngest ever living independantly either, and we always talk about the future now in terms of her being with us. All our plans have been reshaped, even down to discussion about our wills (if she outlives us), which is so scary at our age......but we have to think about the future in a way our friends don't. We are fortunate though, because youngest DD can communicate well and is toilet trained, so I can't imagine how painful it must be for you.

I can also appreciate how hard it is to have a second child diagnosed because we were in the same situation with our eldest DD.

Thinking of you and sending huge, huge >:D<<'>

  5. That's TheNeil, he always causes trouble :shame:

Okey dokey, seems like 9th August is ok for most, need to decide if it's going to be York or Newcastle....can I have preferences perlease so we can go with majority.

Or we could be vairy refined and go to Harrogate  Don't they have baths? That'd be cosy

  6. Not since the court granted the permit - I'm now legally allowed to kill 'those darn pesky kids' (as the judge put it). It's kind of like James Bond's license to kill but far more useful.

The woman in Gregg's didn't believe when I throttled her child but a quick flash of the permit and she was fine about it  (I even got a discount on a couple of Belgian buns)(I have no idea what I'm talking about - my mind (such that it is) has now totally gone. For God's sake help me )

Would you trust a man who fantasises about getting discounts in a baker's shop with your kids?

Well that sounds kinda sensible to me TN and DH has been doing it for years

  7. You say that now but once people have experienced The 'TheNeil Experience' then their attitude tends to change.

It's only following the first Newcastle meet-up that Bagpuss turned to...:wine: (she assured everyone that she was practically a nun beforehand and that it was all my fault...as per usual )

As if, me, drink, never :o ......next you'll be saying I couldn't find a blumming huge clock slap bang in the middle of a town centre :shame:

Anyway, I blame KarenT, not you dear spikey haired one...and why...for no reason other than she never ventures into the Greenwich thread, so I can :P

  8. Oh I love children...especially when they're several hundred miles away

Looks like Mr Bagpuss is going to be disappointed I'm afraid as, after much hunting around on the various train timetable sites there appears to a distinct lack of trains going from Harrogate to the big smoke of a weekend (well a distinct lack of trains that I won't be sat on for at least 8 hours (and not cost in the region of 200 :o )). Even looked at driving part way (i.e. Peterborough) and jumping on the train for the last bit but there aren't any direct trains between Peterborough and Kings Cross next weekend (I don't understand that - weekdays and they run every 15 minutes and take under an hour but at the weekend, up to three changes and it takes 2 hours  )

So it looks like I'll have to give Greenwich a miss (again). Now then, did someone mention York...

:( How do I console DH? :tearful: .......he was excited about the endless discussion on the merits of Middlesbrough :P

Come on, cadge a lift from someone Oop North  Fly? Hitch?

You know you want to

  9. I know it's really late in the day but would there be room for a small spiky one?

I've got next weekend free and might be able to make it. The only things really stopping me are travelling (I suppose if I'd got off my bony ass and sorted somthing out earlier then it wouldn't be a problem but that's the problem when you've got a bony ass and you don't know what you're doing) and the ever constant threat of rain.

If not then can I put my name down for the meet-up after that (honestly, one of these days I will make it to London - I can't wait to see the pearly kings and queens, see my reflection in the gold paved streets etc.)

Be smashing to meet up again if you could make it TN

DH will be relieved and you would provide the perfect distraction for me to sneak off to pub :lol:

You did say you loved children didn't you?
