I'm new and haven't yet introduced myself but we had a similar problem when my son was 2. The GP prescribed lactulose and it didn't work and suppositories but they didn't solve the problem. The HV told me to get him to refer us to the constipation clinic. He didn't even know it existed. The nurse there prescribed him with Movicol Paediatric Plain which is a powder to mix in with water. It worked within days and he took it on gradually reduced doses over 6 months.
I hope things get sorted out.
