Rates of pay for TAs can vary from school to school and LA to LA. That figure could equate to 25 hours in one school but, say, 20, in another. It needs to be hours specified here not wages!
-
Well I'll keep my fingers crossed for you.
-
Look here for advice from the NAS on this. Basicaly if the school have to provide extra support then SA should be implemented AND recorded.

Mrs P and I sit down and play this every so often..."The what if game...?" You know...
What if we had done this?
What if we had done that?
What if we hadn't done this?
...the problem is there isn't any answer to the questions. What happened, happened and you can't change that. You have to learn by mistakes and move on for sure, but you cannot beat yourself up over 'what if's'. Doing, or not doing a particular something did not cause the problem! Adapt to what you know now and look to the future - you HAVE to!

today something a little healthier - some alternatives for some well known favourites, you might think they're a little fiddly but their worth it and hey no additives
1. home made baked beans - start the night before
8oz haricot beans soaked overnight
2oz butter
1 large diced onion
crushed clove of garlic
tin choppped tomatoes
2 tsp brown sugar
1 tbsp fresh parsley
soak and cook beans as directed on packet - make sure that you boil rapidly and fiercly for at least 10 mins- then drain and put back into a covered pan to keep warm. meanwhile melt butter in pan and gently fry onion and garlic until soft, pour tomatoes into pan and simmer for about 10 mins to reduce and thicken add sugar and parsley ( if it still looks a bit runny for you, add a little tomato puree to thicken) pour over hot beans and keep warm for at least 30 mins to allow flavours to be absorbed. reheat and serve as desired. will keep 3 days in an air tight container in fridge ( if you can keep kids from eating them)
2 home made lemonade - overnight again
8 large unwaxed lemons
8oz caster sugar
4pints boiling water
wash and dry lemons, remove zest in strips (with zester or cut finely) put in large jug with sugar and boiling water and put in cool place overnight squeeze juice from lemons and put in covered container in fridge.next day add lemon juice to water mix and stir thouroughly, strain and chill before serving.
3. lemon squash
2 thin skinned unwaxed lemons
2 pints water
1lb castor sugar
1 level tsp citric acid -from any good chemist
cut lemons into quarters and place in liquidizer with 1/2 pint water blitz on max for 10 secs.pour into a deep pan add remaining water sugar and citric acid and bring to boil stirring continuously to dissolve sugar.
remove from heat and allow to cool, strain into bottles and cap. dilute when needed like ordinary squash. will keep in fridge for 2-3 weeks. make sure you label it with date and title tho
4. orange squash
zest and juice of 3 oranges
11/2 pints of water
12oz of castor sugar
1 level tsp citric acid-see above
orange colouring if you feel you need it - i don't personally
dissolve sugar in water and simmer for 5 mins. add citric acid to zest and juice of oranges in a bowl/jug and pour over hot syrup (add colouring now if using) allow to cool strain and bottle. dilute as needed like ordinary squash . store as above.

Well done Nemo.

I agree Oracle...they are about to be caught out on this big time and they know it. It seems to be that far too many schools are trotting out the 'we don't do IEPs' line at the moment. Yeah, ok - 'so what do you do then?' would be my response.
-
Nemo, is there a link to listen to it do you know?

Hi....
I'm so pleased it went well today. Hope it is the start of something good and lasting. As for the cream we used to have a dispenser thing for doing this that worked like a soda syphon and a half litre carton of cream would go on forever. I'll have to ask Mrs P what make it was when she comes in later.

is it jaws? those cellos still get me going

Does he have any IEPs for the last few years? He certainly ought ot have, and you should have copies of them as well. If he hasn't I'd be asking why on earth not. He is certainly along way behind his peer group from what your telling us.
Assuming that he does have IEP's how have the targets changed over time - if they have? They should have done and how they have changed and what the targets actually are wil tell me alot about where his support has been failing. They should also indicate if he is at SA or SA+ level as well.
Can you let us/me know.

Thats fantastic...enjoy that proud parent moment.

Admitting there's still improvements to be made and lessons to be learnt from mistakes is one thing - acting on them is something else. I guess we will have to wait and see how it pans out.

You did good!
What I would suggest now is that tomorrow you follow up your verbal request for assessment with a formal, written, request. Citing in it the same reasons you did to the senco. You showed guts today...well done you!!!
-
I would say approach it with an open mind - it may work. But, and its a pretty big but, I'd be very wary of showing my hand as to the exact grounds of my appeal. By going along to this you have, at the end of the day, shown willing, you have tried everything prior to sendist including this. If you can reach a compromise with them evryone is happy if you cant...sendist beckons.
One of those late night wonderings!

The tests should only make up a part of the whole process. They cannot be used in isolation to general observations.
