  1. I am delighted to write a couple of words regarding the Asperger personality A person gifted with Asperger Syndrome has been given a special intelligence profile, the 'saw-cut' intelligence profile, this giving the person the unique ability to become deeply absorbed in a subject. This is possible because the person with A.S. is only occupied with few subjects, thus more engagement and energy put to the few subjects. The finest results, whatever subjects or tasks, are achieved only in cases where one can concentrate fully on one subject, eg. Einstein in mathematics, Mozart in composition, both being Asperger personalities. If these geniuses had not been given the possibility to work meticolously as they did, mankind had probably not seen the Einstein and Mozart we all know about. Society needs persons deeply absorbing in subjects! What a strenght and support for the cultural life, and for life in general! When a person has the opportunity to devote one's efforts to few subjects, this person can contribute to developing the world; create. The superficial society generally based on the needs of neurotypical persons is not composed with qualities as total absorption in a subject. By persons totally absorbing in a subject, society is enriched! We assume that the outstanding results be known publically on their various fields, and mankind is thus being enriched by them. Social behavior based on quality interaction and mutual respect. Einstein and Mozart had not been able to present their unique contributions had they not been given the possibility to work in total harmony with themselves. The social life in modern society is demanding and complex. For an individual deeply engaged in a subject, thus wanting to create something, to obtain a fine result, the various social stimuli may appear disturbing. For many persons, the social 'play' among people can appear uninteresting because one can not use the creative zest there. As we all know, outstanding results are not obtained in social groups but when creative individuals have the possibility to develop themselves in peace and in harmony with themselves, eg. often at home before the cupboard or out in the nature. By giving people tranquility and harmony to deeply absorbe themselves in their interests, new outstanding results can be presented. The crucial point is to have the possibility to fully cultivate one's talents. This being the case, social contact comes automatically when meeting other persons sharing one's interests and talents. In such a case, conversations of substantial quality and solidarity based on fellowship within common interests appear. Then social life among persons results from people developing themselves within their interest spheres and talents. Then the social 'play' between people is not accentuated, and the creative elements within persons are directing their social behavior. Honest and self-sacrificing care is also a fine quality of the Asperger. The ability to deeply absorbe oneself in something is one of the key characteristics of this personality. This ability also comes to light regarding friendships. The Asperger offers a true engagement based on honesty, fidelity and helpfulness. What is by society claimed to be lack of empathy, is rightfully not lack of empathy. To have empathy means to care for somebody. The Asperger person's meticolous, wise and conscientious attitude towards life is a predominant factor in displaying a wholehearted care for other persons.
  2. I am 42, and anxiety is a part of my aspergian symptom gallery. In fact, I have problems with thoughts that are being fixed, and as this is fatiguing, I often get depressed. In social life, I have anxiety as to interact. Every situation seems new to me, keeping me still on the same 'ground' level. To handle every new social situation, I experience it like learning a new language. I have also anxiety regarding the extent and scope of what I say and do; I don't understand how my behavior effects other persons, i.e. a lack of empathy or failing to get the right emotional perspective. I often am afraid that I have said or done something wrong, however I am a cautious and kind person.
  3. Hello! As a matter of fact, I possess all the major symptoms of the Asperger Syndrome, including special interests and an uneven intelligence profile, to mention a couple of the traits. Indeed, you are very welcome to communicate as I very much like to communicate with other suffering from the same syndrom. Best wishes, Andreas
  4. I hereby bring my expression of wholehearted agreement as to the use of the term 'professor', this brilliant one being also used to characterize me today as aged 42 as well as when I was around 20 years old.
