Lynden Report post Posted December 12, 2007 The community SALT called me today as she's been doing Logans report for his statement and she wanted to talk me through it as it seems a bit harsh apparently. Seeing as he's going to be staying in his current school which is a SLD school where PECS and visual timetables are used daily anyways, its not a huge issue but I'm a bit muddled at her comments. She said if Logan had been going to mainstream, because of his 'whole level of development' (ASD and his significant developmental delay), he wouldn't actually qualify for speech therapy. That doesn't make sense to me. She did say he would get support with PECS (but isn't that SALT?). He's completely non verbal so why wouldn't he qualify for SALT? If anything that makes me even more sure that he's in the right place, but he is coming on, and he might not be at his current school forever so it does worry me to hear things like that.
