Christmas time

Recommended Posts

I sometimes feel depressed and lonely during the christmas time, maybe its because of my aspergers, I dont have that much of a care for it. My family doesnt make a big deal of holidays anyway.

Anyone else feel like this?

Don't like xmas, never hasve and never will. As I've gotten older my hatred of it has mellowed into loathing but grrrrrrrrrrrrr. Tho' I'm NT I think I have rather aspie reasons for disliking it actually. I hate the social aspects of xmas, having to spend periods of time in places and with people you'd rather not, the disruption of normal routine etc. I hate the fact that people don't think you should spend xmas alone and get quite pushy about trying to draw you into things...

You have my sympathy >:D<<'>

My Mum didn't like Hogmanay, she found it saddening....as I get older, I' kinda understanding why.

Christmas can be a very difficult time, I think the huge commercialism of it makes it tough for masses of people, and I find it a bit sad as I always think of my folks and get a bit teary-eyed over missing them. I personally LOVE the coming together of family, I love watching people's reactions to presents (as long as its positive) and I try to make it a time for being with those that I love. I can see how that might be a problem for someone with an ASD, though.

Cal loves it, right enough, mainly because it presents him with an opportunity to get embroiled with his new toys and games-we've perfected the art of present-picking!

I loved Christmas when I was younger but as the years go by it just gets gloomier and gloomier, I think the commercialism of Christmas gives people high expectations, resulting in people spending too much money, being over indulged, over worked, stressed and disappointed. My quest would be, to bring back a good old fashioned Christmas one with good will to all men and actually remembering the reason why we are celebrating in the first place.
