Hi.I think the multi-disciplinary team may vary a little from one area to another. Also some team members may be linked to the team and only involved if required.

However the core team are likely to include

A paeditrician and/or a child psychiatrist.

A Speech and Language therapist.

A representative from Social Care [Children] such as a Social Worker.

A representative from Education.

An Occupational Therapist.

Perhaps the physiotherapist may be invited as a referal for physiotherapy has already been done.

One individual may also be involved in supporting you [perhaps a health visitor].

The nursery SENCO may well be asked to provide information to the multi-disciplinary team.

A dietician and administrator for the Team may also be involved.Karen.

There are two different sorts of multi-disciplinary teams. One is the Child Development team. The members of the child development team are likely to be those mentioned.

However there is another sort of multi-disciplinary team which has been developed as a result of ''Every Child Matters'' .The multi-disciplinary team with regard to ''Every Child Matters'' may be slightly different. It might include team members who have a role in supporting you or in providing support for your child who are not usually members of the Child Development Team.It might include the nursery SENCO,a portage worker or your health visitor.

The Child Development Team mainly has a role in assessment and diagnosis.

The Multi-Disciplinary Team related to ''Every Child Matters'' is more invlolved in planning and implementing long term support.

I will find a link that will hopefully explain.Karen.
