zaman Report post Posted July 6, 2009 http://www.guardian.co.uk/lifeandstyle/200...ucation-society I thought this was a really interesting interview, and the young man's comments gave me a few insights into understanding the some of the social aspects of autism. pearl Report post Posted July 6, 2009 Very moving. Made me (once again) realise how very very lucky we were with JP's 6th form education - I couldn't fault it.
Kathryn Report post Posted July 7, 2009 Thanks Zaman. I'd heard about this chap - he's in our county. I'm glad they won their case albeit at a huge financial cost and only a letter of apology at the end of it! His mum still had to privately fund the last part of his education. Good luck to him - he deserves success. Hopefully Cambridge will be more appreciative of his gifts! He reminded me a bit of my L who also used to write stories, and read everything she could lay her hands on - including Shakespeare- just for her own enjoyment. She ended up with nothing. If the education system can't cope with children who are bright and eager to learn, what does that say about the system? K x
