LordGorse Report post Posted July 22, 2009 Thought I'd share a few little scribblings and maybe encourage others to do the same... UNTITLED POEM Disquietude clings fast to thy brain, With roots deep-clenched and fruits sour, These doubts thy every thought do stain, And those few certainties that remain, They weaken by the hour. These black and bitter thoughts, they feed Despair and render thy pain stark, Till apathy becomes thy creed, And the world once loved turns dark. All thy friends have thou rejected, And of thy passions thou art shorn; In thine eyes is sorrow reflected, And night revokes the dawn. But none can see what has begun Deep within thy throbbing heart, Where joy is dead and hope is wan, And all thy dreams shall soon depart. Now a look of woe is impressed Skull-deep upon thy weary brow, And sadness on thine heart is pressed So fiercely that it longs to rest, Yet struggles on somehow. MONOTENY (a song) Lonely days Without end All the same--always the same Each second A century Of agony Is there no end? Oh please let it end No one sees No one speaks No one knows me Here In the prison Of monoteny These endless days Break me down In this sea of years I slowly drown I think soon an end must come I hope soon I'll be done
LordGorse Report post Posted July 23, 2009 Hmm...maybe I didn't title the topic very well. I was really hoping to read some of you folks' poems, but no takers...? At all? Ah well, I'll just sit here and talk to myself for a while. Been a boring day today, hasn't it? Yes. Get much done? No, not really; gonna watch the Mentalist later, then maybe do some editing, then bed where I intend to try (and fail) to sleep. Is this normal? Dunno. Don't care. Bad day. LordGorse Report post Posted July 23, 2009 i really like them...............i have written a few poems but they r kinda crappy, may add them if i am feeling brave Thank you very much--made my day that has Hey, don't worry--I write heaps of ######, but every so often something half decent pops up in the heap Please, add your poems--the author usually isn't the best judge of their own work anyway; you may have written a masterpiece and not realize it! something_different Report post Posted July 23, 2009 ok here is one.... its rather old. i have posted my poems on here b4 Friends If friends are so important, Why do I have none? What is it that they do not like? Is it something I have done? I'm not a nasty person, I do not tell a lie, I'm always kind and caring. So please explain why? No one wants to know me, No one even cares. When friends get together, I am never there. They do not know how I feel, When I see friends having fun. I wish I could join in with them And not be the only one. Sitting on my own, Not knowing what to do. Always feeling lonely, I want a friend like you! this one is a bit more recent Road Walking down the road Who knows where it may lead It may be long and lonely But in the end we will succeed. my world You may not understand me My thoughts are hard to see. Everyone is different That is plain to see. So come into my world Patience is the key Once you get to know me You will surely see. That my world makes me happy As content as I can be. So stay a while and we shall smile Its fun to be with me! i think that will do for now!
LordGorse Report post Posted July 24, 2009 Crappy? I think not!!! They're really good, maybe a little edit here and there, but the most important thing is they really speak to you. I can relate to them and I'm sure I won't be the only one. I'm going to put another of mine up later on--you've inspired me!
LordGorse Report post Posted July 24, 2009 TO JONATHAN Other children were not as we, They needed towns for thrills, The places we wished not to be; For us were the woods and hills, And caverns sunk in the lee, Where all was calm tranquility. They only sought what money yields, For us the rivers and open fields Offered more wonder and delight; There our dreaming minds took flight. And there we longed to meet two girls, Wandering as did we, One dark for me, One fair for thee, Alas, 'twas not to be. But we needed no other company While we walked far and free. Nature's voice all about we heard, In the grass, the water and the leaves, And with it a secret language shared, That all may hear yet few believes. Long days we spent exploring rooms In the ruinous Prospect Farm, Or roaming 'midst the poppy blooms, In winter's gale and summer's calm; Those days we thought would never end, Oh how wrong we were my friend. Whether plodding up steep rocky slopes, Where winds blew fierce and loud, Or sharing all our dreams and hopes, While sliding down Thorpe Cloud; Whether sat upon High Tor cliff, In snow and ice all frozen stiff, Or striding over Stanton Moor, Discussing what the stones were for, Your friendship was all I ever had-- A fact which, I feel seems not so bad. But now those days are long ago, And never again their like I'll know, For friendships pass, as did ours, And long seem now the weary hours, As melancholy's unyielding hands Enwrap my heart like iron bands. For though the trees stand just as tall, And rocks sit every bit as proud, A desolate air now covers all, With a dark and gloomy shroud. Brooks yet babble, trees whisper still, But no word can I make out, For, without your stronger will, I shall ever walk in doubt. But though I walk alone nowadays, Along the Derwent's grassy banks, Following all the old pathways, You have, for giving me these memories, My sincere and everlasting thanks.
