Who is Admin?

Recommended Posts

Hi :) I wanna post a post here that i have posted on a different forum which is not really regarding aspergers but however the point in posting it to begin with was to get a general view point which is why i was hoping to post an edited copy here however because of its content relating to specific substances i was looking to contact an authoritive board member such as the admin in order to make sure that i am not breaking any board rules by posting the topic.

uno problemo: one problem is i dont know who is admin. although i did find an admin the specific person has not been active for a year so if possible could somebody tell me who the admins are or clarify the board rules with me?

Thanks

You can send it to me by PM, or any of the other moderators. If we can't give you an answer, we can double check with Admin for you. Or if you prefer you can approach Admin directly by PM. The best person would probably be Lufty. He is online most days.

Thank you my friend,

If its ok i ll send it to you by pm however i have not yet got around to editing out some of the language which is not intended for this forum because it might be against the rules or viewed as abusive . The words are merely just mild profanity used to express my oppinion on general topics although i could have selcted better words haha

But keep in mind that when i do post the final version here i will edit out the profanity if you agree with me posting the thread to begin with

Thanks again and i ll send the thread to you straightaway in a pm or provide you with a link

The profanity will just come up as ####### anyway!! Even words that you don't think are swearing sometimes

haha lol :) i remember one forum where certain profantiy was replaced with childish sounding words lol such as "pooh"

so certain sentences would be rephrased as "pooh, pooh , pooh i forgot that thing again"

haha

 I think I'm suddenly appreciative of the #### symbols

An easy way to tell what's allowed is to preview your posts beforehand and the forum nicely shows you if certain words will get #### blanked out :P - this gives you a chance to change your choice of word to something that is more appropriate :D

Am studying social psychology and really struggling with it cuz it's totally different to every other course I've done - I might go down the somewhat predictable clinical psychology route - but I'm also interested in forensic psychology and a couple others that I can't remember the names of

I like social psychology in my experience i find it much easier to comprehend then some aspects of psychology and i guess this is because i can view people economically like many of the psychologist and thoeries do and because of my views and experiences with social interations it helps me to find it easier to view them in an economical view. I have been deciding to study it but its the last thing i thought i would do so i find it ironic that i think am interested in it.

What do you like about forensic psychology ?

How do you find social psychology to be?

Thanks :)

I don't know how other social psychology courses work - but this one is 75% qualitative (social psychoanalytic, phenomenological and discursive social approaches) - the other 25% is cognitive social psychology that has predominantly quantitative examples.

I struggle with it because I don't understand some of the topics very easily or I disagree :D

As for forensic psychology (which is not a route I'll pick) I like the idea of working things through to solve a problem - I find the challenge of solving something like violent crimes interesting and I think I'd be good at it because of my lack of empathy I can understand "alternative motivations" - I think this weird ability to put myself in non-normal people's shoes could be a useful skill :P

Its a very useful skill :) I would nt do forensics because i am so marxist and i just hate the law lol.

Do you think there is a lot of jobs in psychology at present times because am worried incase i qualify then find out there is not much of a market for the skills i aquire :)

Thanks Darkshine (I enjoy talking to you)

I don't think it's a useful skill  people tend to get very angry and emotional when I say I can see what caused someone to do something that to most people seems beyond comprehension - the only real use for it 'as a skill' would be in some kind of crime/law job

Still, I guess it adds another dimension to me as a person :P

Psychology as a field is doing alright for itself in this country - people from other countries come over here to practice so there must be a fair amount of appeal and demand.

Plus a lot more people think they are nuts - so that'll keep the psychologists in business lol

My biggest worry is that I may be impaired somehow by having asperger's - I don't know why really, and I can't justify it very well - but it's related to not understanding people and difficulties with communication...

But yeah, its a nice broad field (another reason I chose it) that gives you choices, options, different areas of focus, Then you got the whole counselling angle - and there's numerous varieties of that as well, and in addition if you so desired, there's psychiatry (not my thing).

I like all the choices available - means that if I change my mind about what interests me, there are planty of other options.

Also I guess it depends what kind of person you are - maybe some people wanna sit behind a desk, or others wanna do research, some wanna solve things, others wanna discover things, then others want to work actively with people and still others want to campaign for constant improvement, and you got the ones who wanna help adults only or ones who wanna help the kiddies and teens.

So yeah, I reckon you'll find something that suits you in all that - and if not there's still the option of teaching (not for me either - worst nightmare lol) - plus there's also work relating to helping to run centres/groups for people who need help... and all that's just what I can think of in a few minutes!!!

Best

Sorry for this short reply :)) i just finished work :)

I never realised there way so much employment in the psychological industry.IS it too personal to ask where abouts your studying and from which city?

Have you found it easy or difficult to study psychology ?

Is there some people like i tend to be hounded by - The type of people who text you and ask you to come out and then text you again and again till finally you say yes only to pathetically make up excuses for reasons you cant attend and yet hours later there still asking you too come out and after the tenth time they still have nt understood the word "no"

Have you ever found yourself to be hounded by such people :P

:) thanks for the information :)

I study with the Open University - I have agoraphobia so normal universities aren't a practical option just now - I've been studying with them for a while now and hope to get a degree in psychology (BSc) one day.

The studying has been really hard this way - I am trapped in a world where the courses really NEED communication and interaction with other students - but am unable to go to tutorials or talk to people :wallbash: it has been very isolating because of my problems...

Having said that, it has taught me so much - I have learnt how to talk to people over the internet - cuz that's the main form of contact with tutors - and I did an online course where I worked in a group of 5 and had to regularly talk to these people to complete a project - it was actually the most horrible course I've ever done - the communication was near to impossible!!! It's taught me how to write better and also to admit my problems to people - which wasn't an easy thing to learn...

I get people hound me who need things - people sense I won't/can't argue and just use that to push push push (or hound hound hound) and they don't take no for an answer, then they keep on until I give in or pee them off cuz I can't say things in a good way when I'm stressed - so basically I keep people at a distance in "real life" cuz they are more hassle than they are worth...

Sorry to ask but what is open university? I did look it up but as far as i can gather its like distant learning? I looked at some of the courses and it looked a bit like a box of chocolates there was so many to choose. Do i have to have qualifications to part-take in courses such as spanish?

How do you ind the course to be?

What can students achive from the courses like can we get a full degree?

Am interested in it :)

I am learning to admit problems now at first i thought i might have been exagerating but then i realise that the really real reason am thinking that is to divert attention from the fact that i have got a problem that i need to be aware of and things have been easier since i am aware of it but at first i think i was just in denial :)

With the problems you have would you find it impossible to sit in a class room? just like apart from myself i dont know anyone locally who feels the same about life and because of that i dont know how severly and life changing things like this can be. So i was just asking so i can understand from someone other than my own experiences

hope i just made sense with what i wrote lol

:D

The end paragraph you wrote is exactly how i feel about people and its so fustrating because they can bring me right down and feeling so depressed just by simply not listening to me and taking the first answer i gave which was "no" lol haha :)

100% right people do cause more hassel than there worth lol sometimes when you see the mind games that people play with each other i find it so amazing that all the participants dont even accept or notice what is going on they just see it as a natural occurance and after the 30th time of been in the same position they still just shrug it off there shoulders

for instance there is this lass around near where i live and she had *** with a guy then she says "oh am pregnant" and then her mates start bothering around her as she slowly changes the story to look like the victim and claim r*pe accusations to then say she has lost the baby and then start the whole cyckle of events over again with another lad.

I just dont understand how her friends and family and neighbours dont realise she is just an attention seeker and a manipulative one at that. well least i can be glad i have nothing to do with them lol

:D

Yeah, distance learnin is right :) They post you the course materials, assign you a tutor who you can phone or email, and give you a time-table of tutorials (some courses have loads - some have just 4 or 5 in a 9 month course).

The courses are more affordable because they aren't asking for a load of cash in one go - and they have many ways of helping people out if they want to study - there are grants for people on low income or benefits that pay either all or some of your learning costs, you can loan the money off them and then pay in instalments throughout the course - not all at the start, or get someone to sponsor you (a company you work for I guess).

If you wanted to do a degree - it gives you "paths" to take - which is a list of courses that will add up to a degree - it takes longer than going to a typical uni cuz the courses are in short stages (3-9 months depending on the course) and you have to wait for the next start dates (so each year you should get a couple of months off - unless you are me of course who has been doing this solid now since november 2009 :wallbash:.

Some courses can overlap - and you can do 2 or 3 modules at once if you want (I stick to one at a time but I do allow overlaps of a month to try and save time)

If you did a degree - it would be worth the same as a normal degree (at least in psychology - there's BPS regulations to get recognised and they tell you what you have to do to qualify) (BPS is British Psychological Society - they have a page on their website about it all - they have recently changed all the terminology and guidelines so I'm not actually sure where I stand right now lol - its on my to do list)

I find most courses interesting cuz I want to learn more - this is what I have to do

Courses for O.U Psychology Degree

With the problems you have would you find it impossible to sit in a class room? just like apart from myself i dont know anyone locally who feels the same about life and because of that i dont know how severly and life changing things like this can be. So i was just asking so i can understand from someone other than my own experiences

Because I can't get to a classroom first of all  my tutorials are in the nearest city which is 30 miles away and I just can't get there - in past years some tutors have visited me :notworthy: and that's been helpful - depends on who you get though - some wanna do more work than others!

Social anxiety means I'm so stressed that - assuming I could get there - to the city at least - I'd be so panicked and stressed that I can't concentrate or interact.

Loads of times I've got to the city and had to go home without even getting to the tutorial :wallbash: I've even stood outside the classroom and not been able to go in...

Plus I can't cope with the noise of lots of people talking at once - and a classroom environment is one where you definitely need to be able to listen and cope with the info coming at you.

The OU does Spanish courses - I don't know how they work - but it's what I signed up for a long long time ago before I changed my mind at the last minute and went for the psychology instead - but originally I was gonna do a degree in Spanish - so who knows?

The people you talk about... the whole world seems that way to me, wrong, shallow, flawed, and the people in it seem insignificantly stupid all running on their ant trails making the same mistakes without any sense of awareness of what they are doing - only once in a while do I think a person is fantastic and inspiring xx

thank you for the links and information :) it seems really good :) you wanted to do spanish too? Do you practice or have you had any interests in any other languages?

I cant say i have externally experienced what you have described as for some reason even if my mind does nt wanna go along with it something forces my body into it haha but it does nt make it any less painful. I know that it is easier to avoid social contact and its even a preference of my own aswell but at least your taking steps towards the big pictures of been freed from this torture.

I have found somethings torture but as for the solitude i prefer it so i never noticed i was doing anything abnormal despite my friends saying its a problem i have but now i understand its a problem.

It is hard for you . I can imagine but you just gotta keep trying :) because from what i read your similar to me and dont quit. Just keep that moto "dont quit". You'll get there

when i was 17 i tried to join the TA Parachute regiment and i was pretty succeful but my feelings on social interaction made me unable to continue to participate so i quit but the reason am telling you this is because they gave me the moto i still hold in the highest regard.

"TRAIN HARD,FIGHT EASY" and thats exactly how life is. Its a fight between many things including evolution and if the people in this fight dont adapt and are nt ready then they ll be beaten but you cant let yourself be beaten or fall on your hands or knees, you gotta keep standing tall no matter how hard your pushed and preparation is the key to success "TRAIN HARD > FIGHT EASY" so your doing well because your not letting yourself be beat because your still standing and your taking the steps to prepare :)

I used the same simili somewhere i said humans are like ants running around in a can :) Your totally right the majority of people are not worth the time , they are like cockroaches that wont die no matter how much you stamp on them . they just come back to plague you and eat your crops but some people are inspiring they unsettle your stomache and make you have butterflies and make you see with new views and have new visions for the future and some portray the dull things in a magical way that most would never have seen.

30 miles from the nearest city :) other than scotland the only places i think you may be is cumbria or northumberland :) am i right hehe?

by the way i love the emoticon you use :wallbash:

I quit all ideas of Spanish and I like Dutch now  except I really do like Dutch - Spanish was just a practical choice that seemed a little less predictable than French or German lol

I don't know what the mechanism of this other thing would be called - sometimes its like what I said earlier and other times like what you said "even if my mind doesn't want to go along with it something forces my body into it".

Even as a kid I had a lot of isolation in many ways - but it was only when I lifted my head and noticed that I felt lonely - like sudden awareness of being different and then it'd hurt into I went back into my world again...

Think again Einstein  we have loads of cities in the UK - each with many towns and villages (or even fields and woods lol) within a 30 mile radius of those cities - I've visited both places you thought of when I was a kid - some nice scenery :P

I dont like Dutch much. what interests you in Dutch?

I done some french from 11 to 17 but then lost interest and forgot. I know quite a bit of spanish and i work as a chef in a kurdish place so i can speak kurdish a little too and my friend tried teaching me russian and romanian :)

i prefer spanish

As a kid i went from nursery all the way through primary, secondary school and sixth form without any friends in school because i preferred the computers or books or just walking on my own on the field and at home my my family was quite erm lets say ...."they disliked me alot" so i never spoke to anyone nor liked any of my family and spent all day sitting in my room but theres more to that story and they would nt let me out on evenings or weekends. So until 17 my life was pretty void of social contact.

Your right its when you lift your head up and realise how alone others make you feel like when you see that couple that fit 100% and there all lovey dovey it makes us realise what were missing and i hope i am wrong but i feel i probally will never have what they have no matter how much i yearn for a relationship like such

Your right sometimes i just feel different too and outcasted but all we can do is try to realise why we feel like that and think happier things :)

I created my own little fantasy worlds that i believed to be real for a long time but i think this is the the thing that has got me out sane from all the bullying and other types of abusive behaviours from people.

Am glad i made you laugh

Yeah , i use to teach mountaineering in both of those places and i loved it some amazing scenery and i was well fitted for the job because i could cope with solitude and isolation and think logically.

So is it safe to say you live up north? Because i dont think southerners would come all the way up to newcastle just to see northumberland or the lake district how ever towns like darlington and durham are pretty sparsely spread out . am i getting close? :P

;):D

Hiya :)

My attempts at friendship were always a little off - I was either too interested or not interested at all  I still struggle to find balance as an adult...

I used to read a lot all the way through childhood - started at 2 and never really stopped and I loved playing on computers (I was about 12 I think when I got my first one - an Amiga 500+ lol - I loved that thing) and listening to music - my parents gave me their old record player (it was a huge thing the size of a single fridge with a glass door  they down sized to a more appropriate hi-fi size - one of those stacked systems) even though it was way too big I loved it :D

I used to create my own fantasy worlds too - I still read - but not as much - and I still love music - and computer games lol I don't have time for them like I used to - only the music gets priority cuz that can be on, while I do something else ;)

Loving your efforts at guessing my location - but honestly - you got no chance - I don't mind talkin past but current location is off topic :D

As a kid/teen and as a sort of "family" we had a lot of short holidays - these were mainly concentrated within certain regions - mainly yorkshire (each part there's like dales, moors, something else - can't remember and can't be bothered to google lol, cornwell, wales (north and south), devon. I grew up in the Midlands and we also had numerous day trips to places all over that region - not all of it but most. Sometimes we went to the peak district or the lake district - and some place around there with a well known dam that I can't remember the name of either  its late - that's my excuse and I'm stickin to it lol

It's quite odd to say that some of the places I loved were the most lousy places for weather for a lot of the year - like on the yorkshire moors - at first glance it looks dull and boring with muted colours but the more you look the more you notice that there is loads of colour - it's just subtle - it's nicer in summer for sure - but there's something about standing near one of the rivers in winter when its roaring like hell and threatening to spill its banks that's far more thrilling than poncing around on some beach getting a tan (of course that's only my opinion)

I find the same :) I am either to clingy or too distant and this is the thing that spoils most of my romantic relationships until i learned to control it :)

Although , i have always had a natural abillity for computers i nevertheless began to read until maybe secondary school and the word cat was even too hard for me until i was about 14 and i could nt tie my shoe laces even

come to think of it thats a glitche i have in my memory because i cant remember been able to spell cat until about 13 to 14 years old however i remember reading a "learn yourself french " book at the age of 12. So am not sure where i went mixed up because its illogical for me to read a french book if i could nt spell cat.

In particular , i think i use to love my dads cd's so i use to hide them in my room because i found emotional significance in them and wanted to collect them because i felt like if they were my dads then by having them i am having a part of him so when he found me hiding them he would find solve it by saying "here , have this one but give me that one back first" and this in particular made me feel a little cared for but i think also there is another side to my behaviour i just said from one side it might look like i feel lonely so by possesing his cd's i feel more loved from him because i have something of his with emotional significance but then there is the side where i had to take them and "posses" them so in order to feel loved i had to physically posses the object and have control of it in order to fully understand its emotional significance.

The things i use to love i dont do much either. I only really read factual stuff at the moment which is ashame and apart from the pc i dont play on computer games and i have nt watched tele for about 5 years lol. So coupled with my social isolation i would nt know world war 3 broke out.

Haha ok no problem darksine :)) Am from Newcastle - upon - tyne :)

do you mean kielder dam? supposedly when the water levels are low you can still see the steeple of the church that was in the dam as it got filled :)

I like many remote places but then they end up lacking comfort because am so for from people i cant just jump into my bed however i found the perfect solution......

a little town called staithes, home of captain cook - founder of australia- close to whitby where bram stoker wrote dracula :) really nice coat line and remote walks and the *cottage we stayed in was at the door step of the river.

there was no internet nor phone signal and the population was really small and kept themselves to themselves

very cosy indeed

*i dont know why he rented it as a cottage. It wasnt even a cottage apart from the small stairway and wooden beams stretching across the cieling there was nothing different.

Have you been there before? to staithes?

I think that was part of the reason i done my outdoor activities at teaching level and its because when you are stairing at that raging river everything changes and i find that in these situations i get more social acceptance because i know what i am doing so rather than me having to make effort to comply with their social norms they need to adapt to mine because am the one thats gonna get them home safely :)

I had many close calls too from where i fell an incredible hieght with a 2 stone backpack on and other times where during my attempt at socialising my ego made me do stuid things which ended up me been set on fire then not having a clue what to do other than jump in the rapid and then by too drunk to get out lol.

My favorite place is as you said except its a place called steel rig just north off hadrians wall at haltwhistle and its a very popular place and i have been there numerous times but for some odd reason i have found wild dogs running round there once or twice and another time got kicked by a nearby pony and another time i got stuck in marsh because its very marshy

and when i was younger and use to go wondering around that area i ended up into a bulls field once or twice but luckily got out before the bull noticed haha

What kind of places do you like?

Although , i have always had a natural abillity for computers i nevertheless began to read until maybe secondary school and the word cat was even too hard for me until i was about 14 and i could nt tie my shoe laces even

come to think of it thats a glitche i have in my memory because i cant remember been able to spell cat until about 13 to 14 years old however i remember reading a "learn yourself french " book at the age of 12. So am not sure where i went mixed up because its illogical for me to read a french book if i could nt spell cat.

Shoelaces have often been my pet hate - whenever anyone notices how I tie my shoes they take the pee - I use the bunny ears method - rather than the proper way - the proper way just doesn't work!! I either end up with only one loop, or they are different lengths (aaargh) or they are too loose and come undone :wallbash: I just leave them tied on my trainers and force my foot in these days to avoid the whole hassle

I find the same :) I am either to clingy or too distant and this is the thing that spoils most of my romantic In particular , i think i use to love my dads cd's so i use to hide them in my room because i found emotional significance in them and wanted to collect them because i felt like if they were my dads then by having them i am having a part of him so when he found me hiding them he would find solve it by saying "here , have this one but give me that one back first" and this in particular made me feel a little cared for but i think also there is another side to my behaviour i just said from one side it might look like i feel lonely so by possesing his cd's i feel more loved from him because i have something of his with emotional significance but then there is the side where i had to take them and "posses" them so in order to feel loved i had to physically posses the object and have control of it in order to fully understand its emotional significance.

I find emotional significance in objects lol its weird but certain objects (actually nearly all) that I own are sort of like old friends - I can't throw anything away with ease - it's always a wrench - and used to "steal" or "hide" objects as a kid (I still do but they are always mine these days andI don't do it so much) :P

The things i use to love i dont do much either. I only really read factual stuff at the moment which is ashame and apart from the pc i dont play on computer games and i have nt watched tele for about 5 years lol. So coupled with my social isolation i would nt know world war 3 broke out.

I find that at times too - it doesn't help that I barely ever watch the news or read a paper - everything I hear about is cuz my home page for my email account has a news feed that I can't help seeing - but before that I knew virtually nothing about the outside world.

do you mean kielder dam? supposedly when the water levels are low you can still see the steeple of the church that was in the dam as it got filled :)

Yeah that's the place - I always wanted to see the steeple :) someone told me they have demolished it now so that it's not dangerous for boaters or whatever - don't know if that's true

And yes - I've been to Staithes - can't remember it very well - it was a long time ago lol - my mum had a friend with an antiques shop there at the time so we went a couple of times to visit that I think.

I like Whitby, I like the bridge over the dock/river - it swings doesn't it? It used to be pale green but maybe they painted it since then - the pier there was nice too - not like normal piers, very wide with lots of benches on it and not a lot else :D

We went to a place called Robin Hood's Bay a few times too - if I remember rightly its a cove on a big hill/cliff thing lol - my memory can be so dodgy sometimes

The reason I mentioned Whitby is because when you mentioned captain cook it reminded me of the time the replica of his ship was in whitby and my parents wanted to go see it and I wasn't interested - then a while later I said I was - except it had sailed round to Fishguard in Wales - my parents still wanted to see it so we drove all the way to Fishguard to see it - it took hours and they joked at me that I realise things too late and whitby would have been a damn sight closer and easier to get to. The ship was cool - seemed huge until a stenna line ferry pulled in beside it and made it look like a marble beside an elephant - I have never seen anything mobile and manmade that is so big - either before or after seeing that ferry lol

:D:thumbs:

Sounds like your favourite place is a little unlucky for you

My favourite places - these are all (I thinks - regarding geographical locations, names, and spellings hehe)

In yorkshire I liked, white scar caves, amsterly forest, aysgarth falls, york, and some of the seaside places like scarborough.

In wales - black rock sands, the ffestiniog railway, snowdonia, and I liked the beaches with cliffs and rock pools.

The peak district - and the quaint towns scattered around

The lake district - just love the area

Devon/cornwell - I liked dartmoor - very spooky at night in the mist and the ponies are surprisingly friendly, st michael's mount (sometimes can only be reached by boat) and again there's some quirky little villages scattered about and the beaches are really nice - I liked the one at newquay (I think)

I don't mind seeing ruined castles - we saw a lot of those - and stratford upon avon was nice and quiet - I liked bourton on the water better though. And in the midlands there's lots of places I liked to see/be :D

I'm gonna shut up about places now lol cuz that's not even counting types of landscape or anything :P

Darkshire/Fourthdimension - as much as I've enjoyed trawling through two threads' worth of your discussion (that's irony/sarcasm for anyone who wishes to challenge me... :shame:) collated in four days away to ensure I hadn't missed anything important, can I introduce the two of you to the PM system, perhaps?

@Mumble - Hi :) You rad through the whole post? lol thats alot of reading. Sorry for the long thread :P Is it ok to continue our discussion in this thread?

@Darkshine-

When i tie my shoe laces i end up wrapping it round my finger like 10 times before finally knotting it together in more or less a clump lol

I use to only find out the news through yahoo when i use to check my mail because i could nt really give a toss about international affairs or who has the biggest nuke n am not really bothered about world war 3 or wether there is a meteorite putting the lifes of humantiy at risk - its all just a load of rubbish and unfortunatley there is nt a meteorite gonna hit earth and put me out of my misery so i guess am gonna still have to hear to upper classed snobs about politics etc lol

sorry just had a bad day :P i ll explain in PM or in a relevant post hehe :P

I hoard everything haha and do the same as you but most of my hoarding at the minute is done with books. i cant get books from the library without permantely borrowing them haha and keeping them forever and ever to get dusty on my bookshelf haha

I dont think that bridge is there anymore but i did go to robin hoods bay and down bogle hole but some of the sea water had maggots in lol

sounds like fun hehe :P How big was the ferry? Do you still keep in contact with your parents

I think my favorite place is a little dangerous too haha and all those places sound lovely and nice.

Sorry for the short reply just feel down so could nt really think of much too write X

I did read it all. I thought with all the new posts there must be something interesting/controversial going on and I was intrigued. No-one can stop you two having a conversation here or anywhere; I just felt some of the contents of your discussion might be more appropriate to PMs - mainly because it seemed to be a discussion between the two of you rather than inviting other responses and also because you both reveal quite a lot of personal info. If I wanted to be one of those identity theft people there's quite a lot of useful info I could get from the discussion here and you do need to be careful about what you share in such a public space. :)

Yep totally wasn't trying to leave anyone out - just got carried away - still really want to know what we said (either of us) that was on the line of identity theft stuff - it's really important to me to not do that so if I don't know what I did I can't remedy it :wallbash:

You've posted (both) extensive personal information - favourite places, first holidays, holiday places, etc. etc. (no I don't have any intention of wasting my time going back and detailing it for you - you're grown adults and can find it yourself!) but this is all info that someone could piece together with other info out there on the web to either find out more about you or for more sinister causes. Remember, some of the stuff you've posted is what could be asked as 'security questions' for all sorts of things. There was a fake psychic on the news last night who was talking about how easy it was to find out information about people and to use small pieces to fish further. In particular he noted the amount of personal information that individuals post in public places on the internet.

Oh and thanks for the invitation to join in, but I'm actually quite happy with my life. As that person I can't remember said: "Before you diagnose yourself with depression or low self-esteem, first make sure that you are not, in fact, just surrounded by assholes."

No, I'm not calling you assholes :shame:, I just have no wish to be dragged down when I've worked so hard to reach a position of accepting and liking me. :D

Thanks Mumble although we have given information that can be asked as a security question we are also using alias and with no offence intended that is the sort of exaggerations that make people wary of the internet rather than promoting caution it promotes paranoia.

I say this because yes a degree of caution is needed but to be honest the internet is much safer than the street provided that you do approach things with caution and i think people take the internet for out of context because again it may act as a medium for some people to attract vunrable people or information in no way at all is it the context in which it happens as that usually occurs because people dofnt have common sense and been a growing adult as you said people should have common sense and realise that inviting strangers back to their house is a cause for concern but in no way would i blame the internet because if it was nt the internet that allows things like that to happen it would happen in other careless ways like the same person could have brung the exact same predtor back from the pub

as for information i dont think there is nearly enough to defraud anyone and i mean if you are talking about how much information is available about others on the internet well then i dont think someone would trawl through our essay lentgh posts for information as there are much more reliable ways

firstly we all have ip addresses which when used correctly can give you the location of the person .

people use the same alias alot so when googled different profiles of the same person could be compiled to produce such information that the fraudster could elaborate on.

having a limited number of banks in england its also becomes easy to find out which bank a person uses. there sex and age is also easy and phone numbers and addresses and much more critical information is available for everybody to see on the internet and in no way is this because a person indivualises a post with preferences and trivial information

its because of the available resources and contradictory laws that govern our data that makes it available and with the correct knowledge of how to extract it a person would not waste time with my depressive posts as you were inclined to say.

which are nt depressive they are expressive sometimes its theraputic to talk about problems and thoughts and share them with others and can be more theraputic then sitting with happy hyper people if your feeling down . imagine been down and sitting in a room full of hyper people? how would that help? its about like-minded people which offer understanding and yeah somethings were not of the happiest expressions but then would any of us be here at all if we were happy and understood?

just because one person expresses thoughts of a depressive nature it does nt mean thats how they are in real life as it is only aspect of oneself . one of the multitude of diffrent aspects

maybe your right maybe am not depressed or have low self esteem maybe the world is just full of assholes :P thanks for giving me that example for to use as a scapegoat :)

am not having a go at you i just think you were a bit too frank in your post where as you could have been more subtle because i did nt know how to take what you wrote as to wether you were having a go at us or not

and i love been me amongst my depressive posts i posted in a topic about wether i would take a pill n get a rid of all my symptoms at the drop of a hat and i said no cause i love been me :)

Thanks for highlighting our mistakes and sorry if i com across in the wrong way
