autismplus Report post Posted October 19, 2011 We are Autism Plus, a autism and aspergers charity based in the north of England. We are currently working on a new horticulture project bringing paid employment to individuals with disabilities. We need the general public's help to vote for us in the Natwest Community Force appeal, to win £6,000 for our horticulture site in Sheffield. To vote for the project please click the link below. Community Force Appeal More information can be found on Beanstalk Gardens and Autism Plus on the links below as well as a short FAQ regarding the project. Autism Plus Facebook What does your charity/project do? We work across Yorkshire and Humber offering support to individuals with autism and other complex conditions. We deliver a range of services for the individuals we support including adult learning and day services, community support, residential homes and an employment support service. Our horticultural project has been set up to provide those we support with a progression route into employment and the opportunity to develop their skills whilst still receiving our intensive support. How does your charity/project support the local community? The project supports individuals locally who want to go into employment but have complex needs which can sometimes become a barrier for them. This project helps individuals learn skills, build their confidence and earn a wage whilst still receiving the appropriate support they need. We have also been using the project to provide a respite service for children with disabilities where they can take part in activities and learn about growing and producing food. What do you plan to use the CommunityForce award for? It would be spent on offering training and support to individuals from the local community on growing fruit and vegetables from Falconer Barn at Fence. As well as providing plants and materials for the upkeep of the project. Please help us spread the word of the project. Thank you all for your support
