On line community for ASD children?

I would like to encourage our son to use electronic media to communication more, to encourage both his social skills and his writing/literacy.

 

However on line communication is a minefield even for NT adults, let alone AS children.

 

Anyone got any ideas about making this work, and safe?

Find a social networking site for children, and only allow him access with you present(only you would have passwords etc), which means you can monitor who interacts with him while enjoying quality time together.
