So when he said that his brother nearly lost him his marbles I automatically assumed he meant his little balls of glass Then he said - do you get it? and laughed, explaining that he meant his little balls of glass it took me a little while to understand that he'd tried to make a joke using an idiom (which we've been talking about alot lately as the SALT has "discovered" he doesn't understand them). curra Report post Posted January 1, 2006 This is very funny , I know what you mean My son also tells me jokes and then he explains them to me because he says I didn't get it (sometimes I really don't, I have a rather simple sense of humour ...). His latest is "Life is a joke that you get only when you die". Sort of funny/philosophical. If I dare say that life is more than just a joke etc etc, he says, "Mum, you didn't get it again!"
