ceecee Report post Posted January 10, 2006 Hi All Just wondered if talking really fast is a feature of A.S. or not.I am an adult with suspected A.s. and have always spoke really fast.i read really fast as well both outloud and when i am reading a book.At school I was always picked to be a narrator because my reading was so advanced but i was always told to slow down. Yet other people whom i have known with a.s. my husbands friend for instance talk at a normal speed. So i'm not really sure
Bullet Report post Posted January 10, 2006 (edited) I'm pretty sure it is. I talk very fast still at thirty and was so fast as a child my dad was worried about me over it. Of course, I haven't been diagnosed so may be jumping to conclusions here. Edited January 11, 2006 by Bullet
ceecee Report post Posted January 11, 2006 Bullet I haven't been diagnosed either but I am pretty sure i have A.S. albeit fairly mildly. Incidentally one of my so called party tricks was to read a passage out from a book at break neckspeed
Tally Report post Posted January 11, 2006 I talk really slowly. If I try to talk fast, I just 'trip' over the words and end up talking rubbish.
ceecee Report post Posted January 12, 2006 Tally I still do that as well as not pausing for breath
Gordie Report post Posted January 12, 2006 Yep - I'm a fast-talking Aspie. Especially when nervous, I've noticed. Probably coz I'm trying to get whatever I'm trying to say out of the way as quickly as I possibly can! That doesn't mean I'm not prone to the "tripping" that Tally describes. Talking rubbish is a favourite pastime of mine. James
ceecee Report post Posted January 13, 2006 Gordie Talking rubbish is a favourite past time of mine as well.As my husband often says 'why say one word when a hundred will do' and 'I have never known someone who can spend hours talking about nothing much at all.
