sue1957 Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I used to eat a lot of soya, thinking it was good for me. Although I breastfed, I also supplemented with soya infant formula. Then I read about the possible negative effects and now avoid all but small amounts of fermented soya. From many articles on the Mercola site here's a couple for anyone interested. http://www.mercola.com/article/soy/avoid_soy.htm http://www.mercola.com/2005/mar/23/soy.htm
DaisyFulkirk Report post Posted February 22, 2006 Oh no, if we're not allowed soya now I've had it, I'm vegetarian and its about all the protein I get sometimes as I'm a bit squeamish about eggs. Can't do beany chickpea-y lentilly things, they make me gag so if soya's out too I'm in trouble!
DaisyProudfoot Report post Posted February 22, 2006 I'm veggie too but we eat mostly quorn now, high in protein and very low in fat. Excellent if you're struggling with your weight too.
Valiant_Skylark Report post Posted February 23, 2006 Thanks for posting that, Sue. We have been limiting our intake of soy for some time now, but I know many people are still totally unaware of the issues surrounding the use of soy. All info gratefully read and considered! on the edge Report post Posted February 27, 2006 Just in case anybody doesn't know - they can use soya in vegetable oil and do not have to add it to the ingredient list...so now I use sunflower oil and have to buy sunflower oil crisps for my gfcf son. Will add link if anyone is interested
