phasmid Report post Posted July 16, 2006 You need a braodband filter on every phone jackpoint. If you don't have enough (don't forget the Sky box if you have one) unplug the ones that are not filtered and it ought to clear the line. Most ISPs provide a couple and they can be bought from most of the DIY outlet stores. HTH

phasmid Report post Posted July 17, 2006 The main box is where the line to the modem should run from via a splitter. All other phones/answering machines etc must plug into a socket via a filter. Is that how it's set up now?
lisann Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Hi Phas yep we are set up like that do you think it could be phone, but saying that it was finr till we did the broadband thing really stuck???? Lisa x
phasmid Report post Posted July 17, 2006 Hmm... remove each device one by one and try to isolate things in case it is one phone causing th problem...leave the modem till last. Also make sure you use the connection cable supplied with the modem - not just the one you had there before.
mossgrove Report post Posted July 18, 2006 It's have a filter on all the sockets that you plug anything into. If you don't have enough PM me as we have several spare ones. Does the background noise happen all the time or just when the PC is connected to Broadband? Simon
Tally Report post Posted July 18, 2006 Some old telephones don't like to play with Broadband. Our old ones, the BT-issue ones, did not make a ringing sound, so we missed everyone who tried to call us. You might need to replace your phones if they are old.
