Tally Report post Posted November 22, 2009 My mum has a friend whose 8-year-old son is undergoing assessment for Asperger's. The parents believe he does have AS. My mum has very kindly told her friend that I would give her a list of book recommendations! The family live in Norway, so books offering advice about UK-specific systems and sources of support are not going to be helpful. I would be grateful for any suggestions! Kathryn Report post Posted November 22, 2009 Tony Attwood's guide is always a useful starting point. Maybe one or two personal accounts as well. George and Sam (I forget the author ) is well written and combines personal detail with information about ASD. I'm sure people will recommend others. Mandapanda Report post Posted November 23, 2009 Hi If the boy can read English Blue Bottle Mystery by Kathy Hoopmann might be fun for him to read. I know it's not exactly a resource but it could be a way of gently introducing the subject with him. Tony Attwood's books are brilliant as they are very constructive and positive. I always recommend these as a starting point because of that.
