  1. My little boy put his shoes and a sock on himself today. I know this is quite a small milestone but have been waiting a long time for this............. He also wanted me to buy him a football so you guessed it - yip it was bought and we played football in the garden for a wee while!

    hi

Hi Yes this is a fab website and no you are not alone.
  3. I think this is a lovely thread to have. My cheerful moment of the day has been that my wee boy was going to get dressed by his daddy this morning. He replied "No, mummy dress!".
  4. My little cherub now responds when I ask him a question - he says "Yeh" - i couldn't believe it when he first said it. Priceless
  5. Hi I am definately going to take this further this time. I am alot stronger now and will push alot more now than in the past! He is going to see the school dr in October so I will mention it to them. He is at a specialist autistic school so hopefully they might be a bit more understanding than the local GP. My wee cherub freaked at the drs the last time and tried to kick him - em not good!
  6. Well, my cheer today (or this week) is that my son is chatting away to me alot more - sometimes we can have a wee conversations! If i ask what he has had for lunch/tea - he usually replies. This is a huge achievement! Also, I think he is finally beginning to click with toilet training. He has been told that if he uses the toilet, he will get a snooker table and a pump- em yes a PUMP! If that is what it takes to motivate him to go to the toilet then so be it! I have also got him in pants most of the time he is in the house - which is a big achievement for me! . x
  7. Oh dear busylizzie - you must have been raging! I think sometimes grandparents can be really helpful but in other ways there are in a league of there own! My moan for the day is that my holiday entitlement at work has been reduced since I had to cut my hours to take/collect my little cherub from school. So now after a week off in October, I will have NO holidays left for the year........... just as well my hubby has got days off for October break and my parents will help as well!
  8. My son has had this problem for sometime now. Have tried giving him some stuff out of boots the chemist but it is horrible tasting. Does anyone else have this problem? Thought I start a thread on this. Elaine
  9. i have told my son that he can get a snooker table once he goes to the toilet without a nappy on. I even see a difference in him in one day as i was off work with him. I think you just have to get into their minds and see what makes them tick!
  10. my little boy is off school today (power cut at school) so i decided to put him into pants. he has been dry all the time apart from when we went to shops and I put a nappy on him - it was wet when we came home. He is now in pants again - have told him that if he uses the toilet to do a pee pee then we will buy him a snooker table! I have got to say, I have been on the cbeebies website and he has actually been playing on it - priceless! If i had been at work I would not have experienced this wit him. Though it could be that he realizes that he can see caravans and snooker tables on the computer as well. It is amazing how their minds work!
  11. Nope it has not got worse since he has started school
  12. Hi Suze, Yip the school seem to be. He was ok on Friday at school so we shall see what happens. Hi Carole I think he is doing this for pleasure re his vomiting! I think I am going to have to look into this again. He is due to meet his school doctor in October and I will bring the issue up then. Hopefully he/she might be a bit more understanding than my local GP. Feel calmer tonight - just sometimes things have all these things going around in my head. Thanks for your replies x
  13. I love to watch Holby City. When it is on, I either send my hubbie upstairs to watch the portable tv or do the ironing or he can go to the pub. Answer machine also goes on and I don't answer the phone!
  14. Why oh why do things seem as though everything goes on at once? Here are the things that are swirling around my head at the moment:- 1 Teacher told me that my little cherub was hitting the classroom assistant -------------mmmmmmmmmm. My parents are going on about it! He only started school a week ago! 2 Little cherub is still bringing his food back up once he has eaten - it smells revolting. Dr told me that they would do nothing as he was putting on weight etc but he had to get most of his teeth out after the acid eroded his teeth 3 His little sister has developed lumps behind one of her ears - but i think this is because she has got a cold or something. 4 My little cherub is going on and on and on about snooker tables! 5 Finally, I have got a sore throat! Apologies for this post! Elaine x
  15. going to my parents on sunday - it is their ruby wedding anniversary. though at this point in time i am feeling sorry for myself as i have got a really sore throat!
  16. Got report from school y'day, m was hitting the classroom assistant - i think he did it a couple of days before. Was going to go into one of my panic modes then I thought - em hold on a minute, he has only been at school for a week and his normal routines have been totally turned upside down. Couldn't log onto this brill forum last night as I had severe problems with my land line phone. I assume hitting in school is quite common? My parents were trying to make an issue of this but I am not too concerned at the moment though i think it is quite right that the school are trying to nip this in the bud.
  17. That poem was really lovely - had tears in my eyes................. Elaine x
  18. Marks & Spencers do them - i think up to the age of 3. However, they are large made. I have heard that some people just buy large vests and then sew the poppers on themselves - which could be a short term idea. In Scotland, I get large pull ups pants for my son - free as he is not toilet trained but I am not sure about other parts of the UK. You can tell your friend that she is not alone in this issue. When my son used to do this - I felt very alone but it is seemingly a fairly common problem. Maybe your friend could also contact the National Autistic Society - they might be able to help her. Elaine x
  19. Hello Your son probably sees this as a game. Maybe there is something you could use via PECS. I know that there are different types of faces that can be used ie happy, sad & angry etc but I don't know if your son is too young for this. I don't know if ignoring this type of behaviour would work as maybe he is looking for a reaction from you?????????? My 5 year old son sometimes does this (and again i think he sees this as a game). I say no in a stern voice and say "Mummy is angry!) I also say hitting is bad................ Elaine x

    After School

Might to speak to his school once he is a bit more settled in.
  21. My moan for the day is I think one of my little cherubs has done the toilet in my bed - lovely or what. Lauren, that was really nice what you said. To be honest, it is a nightmare trying to juggle things at the moment. I work part-time . Hubby is full- time. Last couple of times, he has asked for time off and been refused. I think it is just a matter of time before one of us has to resign as my parents have said they will look after my son in the short term re holidays etc but I can't expect them to cover holidays all the time.
  22. Well my little boy went away to school quite happily today. I honestly cannot believe how well he has taken to school. I was really worried about how he would cope. I really think it helped going down to the school when it was closed and letting him get used to the place. Obviously, this is not practical for everyone but I would strongly recommend it. We had a laugh with him y'day - my dad is a member of a golf club and he was wearing his jersery - my little boy came out with the name. My dad was totally shocked....................... Elaine x
  23. Hi Annie I am not having any joy re SEN - I think it might be that i have got no childcare qulaifications......................
