  1. Hi A new member here. My 12 yr old AS daughter still wets the bed nearly every night. We have been to a peadiatrician, have had scans etc, but nothing physically wrong. She tried some medication, but was reluctant to take it, and hid the tablets unless I saw her take them, she was also told not to drink after 6pm with them, not easy to enforce that with a 12 yr old AS. My biggest nightmare is that she won't wear pullups. she hates the feel, yet she is happy to lie half the night in a wet bed. We have tried rewards, waking her up, potty in room, talking, pleading everything! We have had to replace her matress 3 times, as the protective cover never stays in place. Her room always smells dreadful. she often can't remember to put her wet things in the wash, and as I work, and have 2 other yonger children sometimes I don't have time first thing, so we has a revolting mess to deal with, when we come in in the evening. I quite often find wet P.J's and knickers stuffed in with clean clothes, behind her bookcase etc. I do feel for her but she has even been known to wet the bed at 7am when she is awake. Sometimes she wets at school, comes home in the afternoon, gets changed and still stuffs the wet ones in odd places. Can anyone advise, is this somthing that will go on for ever....Help I'm drowning.......so to speak Harmony
  2. When you do run away, make sure you a have a big suitcase so I can hide in it and run away too!..... know just how you feel. I do have a question though regarding meltdowns! my AS daughter age 12 ALWAYS wets herself during an 'episode' and then I feel terrible, do you have any experience of this? Harmony
  3. Hi I'm new too. My daughter, age 12 was diagnosed a few weeks ago. I went to GP, with a long list of issues some of which she was aware of, due to previous visits. Her first word was "do you have private health insurance"? Thankfully due to a new job my Husband does, (yippie) Within the week we had a Sat am appt with an apparently very good peadiatrician (actually he was very nice, and very well informed) We spent an hour with him, and he diagnosed AS and ADHD. He works for the NHS also, but my GP said we would have to wait 3-6 months to see him on that basis. We have been back to him twice since, and he actually said that I might find this site helpful, along with many other ideas, treatments and some good advice. This Dr has so much info on AS it seems such a tragedy that so many people have to wait so long to see him. I really hope that you manage to sort your issues out, I really think that once a firm diagnosis has been made you can begin to see the wood from the trees (ish) Good Luck to you Harmony

  5. Hi Have just become a member. My 12 yr old daughter has just been diagnosed with AS and ADHD. She was diagnosed with dyspraxia aged 5. Help! She is driving me mad. I don't know how much is down to puberty and how much is the AS! She is a very odd child, but I adore her, don't even know where to begin with all her rather odd behaviours, so today I will just say Hi, and when I have got my head around things will get back. It is nice to know though that I am not the only mum on the planet, who is dealing with this. Harmony
