  9. All Our eldest DD was diagnosed with Asperger in June 2008 at the age of 9. Now her younger sister 5 is showing traits eg Gross Motor delay Some fine motor difficulties Outbursts Reluctants to eat food in any quantity Flitting from person to person in the playground and no REAL friends Below average at school Has anybody else had this with there second child? We have made an appointment at the doctors Many Thanks Lizziesfolks
  10. All Thanks for the input so far, we will see if any childminders will, but all the local ones seem to only be upto 11. Flora Yes, i realise that you didn't mean anything by it, i was just saying that even if i had no childminder eg someone paid to look after her i wouldn't leave her alone. Sarah Thanks for the comments Regards Chris
  11. Flora Thanks for that,Sorry, It wasn't meaning we would leave her on her own, what i mean't was if people are in the same boat eg both parents working and they have a child with aspergers what do you do with regards caring for them during the school holidays?. We would never leave her on her own a) we can't legally and b)she wouldn't be able to look after herself anyway. As for age she is just 10 and will be going to secondary school in late 2009
  12. Hi all Quick question more than anything What do any of the parents do with there secondary school age children who have aspergers ? Are they offically too old for childminders? I ask as our daughter(the aspergers one) will next year be going to secondary school and my wife is job hunting at the moment, she has been off with our youngest for 4 years. We can get somewhere for our youngest but it the oldest one she has no friends,so we can't kind of say if you have "X" today we will have "Y" when you are at work. Your thoughts please Thanks Chris
  13. Bikemad & Julie1 Thanks for the info - different people perceptions of things and experience's really help Chris

  16. Hello all and here is my little ditty about us I am Chris father of 2, our eldest DD who is 9, was just yesterday offically diagnosed with Aspergers I am hoping to get tips and advice and how to try and get the right things for DD to help her in school and later in life Chris
  17. Shnoing Thanks for that - yes we do know our daughter as you say and it certainly explains a lot to us, like you say having trouble riding a bike Chris
  18. Nobby Nobbs Thanks for that,to answer the question about parents about 3 weeks ago when it was discussed before the final diagnosis i told them where to look on the web for more info and we have discussed it ourselves before that a great length as we thought she has an ASD and was awaiting and assessment Chris
  19. Janey Thanks for that, i will have a look for that book at a later date. As for the telling the children/parents in her class we are not going to bother she only has approx 18 months to go in primary school. As for the bullying i am sorry that your son is being bullied it can't be nice for either of you . We are in the same boat as you with regards parents telling there children not to bother with our DD and this isn't helped by the fact that out of 8 girls in DD class 3 of the kids have been told we get the inpression to "STAY AWAY FROM HER SHE IS NAUGHTY AND DIFFERENT" and the rest just ignore her, its painful for me to watch when i taken them to school when i am on holiday from work so people seeing it everyday must be heart breaking. i wouldn't mind but some of the parents have been told that DD is a bit different than normal kids(before we got a diagnosis) and they think school is on our side, they still hate us all even our 4 year old girl who is in reception with some off there younger kids, which is fun at birthday party's i assure you!! Chris
  20. we have recently received a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome for our DD I have a few questions if you don't mind? So now we have a diagnosis the question is what should we expect to happen now, with regards School and will this help us in our Annual Statement review as this is our Transition review to Secondary school What is the right time to tell her she has Aspergers? What has been the response from the child when they have been told? As for us and the news our daughter has Aspergers - well we are relived we have a diagnosis but will it really help us/her from an educational point of view. As for me on a personal level, i would have to say that i have mixed emotions to say the least in some ways i/we new she was different but i have to say i personally am quite upset, like i am sure most if not all parents are when the find out that there is something wrong with there child. Sorry to have a moan about this but one last thing how was everyone parents about being told there Grand Daughter/Son has Aspergers, i have to say mine were none to "understanding" when i told them, and as for my sister well i am still waiting for anything like a call/text back to discuss it or ask us what that means for DD If you are still with me Thanks for your time Chris
  21. Tally Thanks for the quick response and i will post it on the education forum
  22. All We had the ADOS test it was about 45 minutes long, and we are going back to go through the report in a couple of weeks, but that they would send us a copy of the they have sent to GP with result. This letter was received yesterday and it states that DD does indeed have "Aspergers Syndrome". So now we have a diagnosis the question is what should we expect to happen now, with regards School and will this help us in our Annual Statement review as this is our Transition review to Secondary school We have decided not to tell the children or parents just the school is to be advised and finally at what age should we tell DD of her condition ?? Thanks again Chris
  23. All, thanks for your input and suggestions We will speak to School/Senco after the whitsun holidays as this is when we have the next appointment and take it from there Chris
