  1. Yes, the support he is getting in school is working well.

When he started in secondary school in September, the school put in place a complete package of support for him according to his needs. The level of support varies across the curriculum. An example of this is that in ICT he needs very little support and often helps other children. In PE he has 1 to 1 support so that he can take part fully and stay safe. To sum up he get more support, but it is also structured differently than was in the original statement.

It is all funded under delegated funding, It 5 hours base plus 15. (SA+=5 + 15)

The "15hours" is used in the calculations when setting Delegate funding levels for the school.

So what has happened is that the school have decided and put in place what support he needs, the rewriting of the statement reflects the support in place. as dose the increase in hours. (Schools delegated funding)

He has been getting the extra support from September, now the school will get the funding.

There are a few other things in there like the school making provision for him to use other ways of recoding his work (Other than by hand). Extra time to do work, special arrangement for exams etc.

  2. It worries me that many people in power in the US are creationists, and as such things like climate change and global worming don't concern them as they are all part of gods plan.

Doesn't the entry to Christan church and other religions require the washing away of sin. Baptism is the symbolic washing away of original win. As a child I was taught that if a baby died without being baptised it would not go to Heaven. (Of course only christians(Catholics) went to heaven anyway) But you could be the most evil person on the planet, but as long as you renounced your sins on your death bed you would be OK and would have your place in heaven.

The first school my son went to was a county primary, there was religion, primarily Christan, taught and practice. When we moved he went to the local C of E primary, There whey would go down to the local church for some things, and the vicar would come into the school to teach, but i don't think they went over the top. Some might say there was not enough emphasis on christianity for a church school.

  3. I just done the questionnaire.

I would endorses what Sally said. I would also add the the questionnaire did not give me the opportunity to express how we went through the diagnosis process.

At aged about 2 our son was referred to a speech therapist, they were very thin on the ground and over the next 18 month saw someone about 6 time and given advise, etc. at about 3 1/2 our son suddenly started to talk "Normally", I always felt this was despite and not of because he attended a speech therapist. At that point it was a case of "He's OK now, goodbye"

We were concerned by this time that he did not show any interest in playing with other children. We were told it was our fault as we were older parent and did not mix with other people with same aged children. So we took him to as many play groups etc as we could but he would just sit with us and never want to join in. Started Pre school same thing. He seemed happy enough there but never realy fitted in. At school, same thing. It was only when he failed to learn to read that school sat up and took notice, but then all of a sudden he could read and according to the school reading test by the time he was 7 he was a year ahead in reading. (Subsequently this was shown to be misleading). By this time he was at School action plus, and things started to move. Where we lived at the time diagnosis for Autism (Amongst other things) was done by the educationalist. Our son was first be seen by a educational psychologist and then referred to the multidisciplinary team. From referral at about 5 1/2 to diagnosis took about 2 about years. Our son was never bad behaved, we never had any real concerns about his behavior at home. Apart from delayed speech he developed "Normally". He had his funny ways but nothing that concerned us. It was only when he went out into the big wide world that any problems showed up. Its just the same now.

We did not notice at the time but when we look at photos of our son from a toddler on he nearly always has a worried look on his face.(Not now, at the present time he is happy with life)

So any way the answers to the questionnaire don't realy reflect the diagnosis proses we went through.

Also the bit about the Last 2 weeks?. Made me laugh, I stopped worrying about what I look like a long time ago. As Sally said, for us life is pretty good at the moment, but not always been like that. And I have a lot of concerns about the future, but that does not impact on how I feel today.

  4. I play games on the computer, but not what people think of as computer games.

Just recently stated playing chess with my son, its good as the computer it tells you the rules as you go. Which saves me the aggravation of telling him what he can and cant do. And he can play on his own if he wants to.

  5. The vast majority of people occupy the middle grown. They accept science and scientific developments but are happy for that to go side by side with their religious beliefs. Even creationist are in general happy to accept "New" science, as its god guiding the scientist to do his work.

When it come to genetic engineering and manipulation, Many of the people who are passionately against it are non religious.

Most thinking Christian do not take Genesis literally and accept that the world was not created 6000 years ago in 7 days. That many millions of years of genetic mutation has led us to where we are now.

  6. We had the annual review in December, it has taken the LA untill now to issue the amended statement.

Basically it now includes all the things the secondary school have been doing, which bear little resemblance to the original statement, and on the 3rd time of trying have had the hours increased from 10 to 15.

The EP and SENCO got together and rewrote the contents of statement which the LA have accepted. I wont bore you with the details. It just good news for a change.

  7. It probably Vitamin D deficiency that your thinking of. Apparently it is becoming more of a problem. Our main source should be from sunlight. But apparently we are not exposing our selves enough

  8. I don't know of any atheists who give to charity, and I know many atheists most of whom are well off.

I also find many people who commit crime are not religious, though some find religion and reform their life.

And how many well off "Christan's" don't give to charity. I know plenty. How many of our politicians who were steeling money off of us would call themselves Christians.

Don't go down the road of thinking that having religion makes you a good person and not having it make you bad because that is just not true.

  9. boy do i need a distraction lol, to be honest im not sure if i can explain, its not something that comes from the mind, it comes from the heart. it would be like you trying to explain why and how much you love your wife. (sort of) (if you have one)

Now I even more confused. Its the statement:-

"if your a complete atheist in my opinion you,ve just heard gods voice and are now embracing him."

I was referring to. If you are an atheist, it is the exact opposite, you have not heard the word of god so to speak.

I've seen what religion does to the world.

---- I think that the world would be MUCH better off without religion.

Its the misuse of religion that is the real problem, by people who want power and control.

  10. Had a few bad days with my back, couldn't get out of bed this morning. Got some strong pain killers from the doctors this afternoon, Took 2 of my wife extra strong pain killers first thing which got me moving, but not far. Taking the next 2 nights off work. going on holiday at the weekend, hoping Ill be OK as we have a long drive to start with.

  11. Know the feeling, we have a family wedding to go to, it will be a big do, with an overnight stay for us, we plan on leaving after a few hours.

But you or at least your daughter cant/wont want to. One possibility, which wont be ideal would be for you to go off with the boys and leave your daughter in the charge of her dad, (I'm assuming he will be there)

  12. It is impossible to prove that "God" in some form or other does not exist somewhere.

I do not think that religion is ridiculous, since the beginning of time man has seeked an understanding of the world around them, religion has been a way of answering the unanswerable questions. To give us a purpose. It is hard when you come to a state of mind, that tells you life exists purely for its own sake, and that it is a very temporary thing. That when our time is over both as individuals and collectively that it.

I find the term "Skeptical Atheist" and interesting one. Does it mean you are not sure if you are an Atheist or not?
