  1. Hi Im afraid I don't know much about tribunals etc but do you have anyone to help you with this? sounds like you need support through this to make your points known without you feeling stressed over it all. These dla forms are so difficult to fill in! good luck
  2. Thanks everyone for your great suggestions and tips! We had some success today in a way I would have never thought of trying - in fact it was my hubbys idea. We were having the usual battle having come back from a muddy walk, didnt want to change clothes etc and my son ended up curled up under his duvet hiding. He agreed (with some convincing from hubby) if I held his hand at one end that his dad would put on new jeans under the covers-bizarre I know but hey ho it worked!! He didnt like it much and I had to reasure the whole time but I think the whole problem is he hates seeing the new stuff going onto him so by putting it on under the duvet it seemed to be ok!!!! he then put on a new t shirt (first time in months) and said "its not as a bad as I thought" I nearly burst into tears! so yes I think we will be buying a heap of sonic the hedgehog t shirts. it always amazes me that a on going problem can be solved with a simple change of an idea! thanks again, i love this site
  3. Hi everyone My son who is 7 (high functioning asd) is having a real aversion to wearing new clothes. He has chewed his way through all his t shirts and is down to his last one that he will wear. I have just been reading about the chew sticks you can buy so will def try them, the problem is trying to convince him to wear new clothes. We have tried social storries, letting him choose, washing them, I even tried cutting out an outfit from a catalgue and sticking a photo of him at the top to show what he would look like. He generally gives the "I will try it on tomorrow, or in the spring" things don't match or are too big. He pulls his trousers up all the time as he is terrified of anyone seeing his pants. If his one t shirt is in the wash he is happy not to wear anything and will go out with just his coat on (rolled up sleeves). any advice as he has a drawer full of unused clothing! thanks in anticipation
  4. I know, you have to decide what is going to get in the way of life and what is just going to be. I think my son will always just have certain clothes for certain activities. thanks
  5. Hi My son chews is uniforms too! I have so many polo shirts that have no buttons on them and all his t shirts have tint teeth size holes on them-looks quite disgusting after day! You are right about perhaps needing to just accept he is comfortable in the clothes he choses.
  6. Hi Yes Ham(7) is the same with certain trousers matching certain tops etc and he owns a gillet which he will wear so I might invest in a warmer one of them-ta for that idea
  7. I know what you mean! Luckily we have 2 more kids if he doesn't wear the new clothes and they get a 2nd chance to be worn. My son is happiest in t shirts but as long as they 'match' his trousers! marble run
  8. Hi Thanks for that! I can tell you that my son looks funny just carrying his coat when he is shivering while refusing to put it on. We too have had huge tantrums delaying going out for ages. I see you have twins also-we have 4 year old boys and when ham reverts to being like a 4 year old it can get quite mad! marble run
  9. Hi Has anyone got ideas on how to get my son to wear long sleeved tops, jumpers and jackets?! He will wear his school jumper with sleeves pushed up and his school coat 'super man style' - hood only. He obviously does not like long sleeves on his arms. thanks

    Help

Hi ! I know you wrote this a while back but I'm new to this site and was looking at this segment as I'm having the same problem with my 7 year old son who has asd. I was looking at the nas site today and found info on this book and I'm really glad I read your comment on it-sounds like just the thing I need. I have almost given up trying to get proffesional help with anger management and behavioural therapy, there seems very little help up here in Scotland especially in Perth and Kinross. I was sent a letter from occupational therapy suggesting the 'help' programme which I discovered is for recent diagnosis of up to 18m (we had ours 4 years ago) and also all sessions are in England! thanks for that marble run
