thanks Karen A for the reply and we dont have a statement as of yet, we do know Brendan sees a speach therapist during school but dont know if it is weekly or monthly but on the assesment form from CAMHs the speach therapist was unable to add a report so I think that is what she is seeing Brendan for to assess him, thanks for the links we feel like ( yes theres Brendans diagnosis he has Autism heres some leaflets and theres the door goodbye ) but thanks for the info and help. thanks nick

They do have a anti bullying policy as we have seen we have had our troubles with bullying, the head as told us that the school will be funded because of Brendans condition so they will get a specialist teacher for Brendan but the funding is not there at present, its all worrying he has social difficulties + Anti Social Difficulties. thanks for the reply nick and lesley.

Thanks for the reply there is supposed to be school yard nannies as they are called at school who are supposed to be keeping an eye on Brendan at playtimes and the head teacher patrols the yard during playtimes, but this is not a isolated incident it happens often, its a small village school with 119 pupils this term 4 classrooms 9 teachers including head and 5 helpers, weve had trouble with all our children at the school with bullying because we where new to the area but things have settled with the odd occurance here and there but we are concerned about Brendan.
  6. Hi Brendan is 5 he has autism and goes to mainstream primary school, the school is fantastic they are helping Brendan and have him set in a routine that he follows perfect after months of running away, we live in a small village only lived here for 3 years and only 250 metres away from the school and we brought it to their attention that Brendan will run away from school which he did on occasion which we were furious about because the school had been warned lucky that we live close to the school and we were in when he came wondering but the school alerted the whole school children and teachers that if Brendan is seen where he shouldnt be he is to be taken back to class which as worked, the children are great with Brendan at school,we dont get much conversation from Brendan he is very quite but he as 2 sisters and 1 older brother at the school who look after him they are so helpfull with him but whilst in the bath I was washing his hair and he started to moan, he told me his head is hurting so I put little pressure on his head thinking he must have an headache but his older brother came into the bathroom and told me that he got told off at school because of Brendan, when I asked why it was because 3 children were hitting him Kieran his older brother told them to stop but they carried on so he pushed them all to the ground so he was told to see the head teacher, Kieran was very upset because he doesnt like been told off he is a good example at the school and is well liked but Brendan sat on a bench and stayed sat while the 3 youths were hitting him and after asking him what was happening he eventually showed me his head where one of the youths throw a stone at him he had a bump behind his ear pretty swollen up, we contacted the school who knew about what had happened and that alot of parents have been complaining about the same 3 children they told us that they were going to speak with their parents, the 3 children causing so much disruption at the school all suffer with ADHD and they pick on Brendan most days, the school as the rules implanted in his head and he doesnt hit these children back because the teacher will tell him off so he will let them hit him he told us it doesnt hurt,I cant imagine what impact this is going to have on his well being its very worrying but he wouldnt have told us because he says little never makes conversation but can make conversation when talking about a computer game which he loves playing but he says little.

    Hi

Hi to everyone, Our 5 year old son Brendan as been diagnosed with autism it was brought to our attention when he was 3 by a health visitor who told us he seems a little ADHD which at the time we did know he was different because as young as he was he took the phrase typical boy to huge extremes he likes to climb, but he is never in the garden on his own and doors and windows are allways locked our environment is locked down like a prison which is very hard as Brendan is one of six children, but we are finding the whole experience hard and at the moment we feel isolated we were told there is plenty of help and support but we just dont know where to look so we are here looking for help from any member with experience who has time to point us in the right direction, Thanks Nick and Lesley. Thanks smiley1590 for the reply Brendan as an official diagnosis he is autistic.
