  1. The la are actually being rather helpful (at least his sen officer is). It's the schools that don't seem to want the hassle of him, which worries me, as the special school is full up, so if no school can take him, neither can the special school, what happens then? I wish I never took him out of school in all honesty.
  2. What about if the reason I removed my son from school was because he was distressed going to school, refused to go in/punched and kicked me when I wanted to take him in, chewed all the skin off his hands as he couldn't cope with that particular school; the school refused to arrange a "chill out" place for him as the room his class was in was too small, and even though they knew he couldn't cope with it? I wouldn't have taken him out of school if it could cope with him.
  3. Have posted again about the "new situation" under "no school wants my son"!!
  4. You may have read my post saying I wanted to try get my son back into school after being home edded since september. We took him out of mainstream school as they weren't meeting his needs at all after numerous meetings and complaints. Plus school was really distressing him. He has a statement and also had a sen assistant for 26 hrs a week. We took him to visit a school this morning, and in were basically told they couldn't meet his needs either. We really want him to go to the local (only one within 60 miles) special school but we have been told by our sen officer that it is vastly over subscribed, and the places they have will got to children who will need it more in september. Now if no school can meet my sons needs and he is not getting an education surely he would need a place quite desperately?? What can we do?
  5. Thanks that's what I thought. However, now the sen officer is saying I will have to wait and see if the school think they can cope with his needs before they can give him a place.
  6. Hi, Yes, I am happy with the statement, and the school I want is a very small mainstream school with 30 odd pupils. It's not the school I took him out of though...would rather poke my eyes out than send him there! The sen officer has just been in touch and said we have to wait and see if the school can meet his needs (they aren't a lot being perfectly honest, although he does have a support assistant for 26hrs). I am going slowly mad here!
  7. Hi, I took my 6yr old son out of mainstream school in September because basically the school was terrible. We thought we would give our son a little time to get it out of his system, with a view to returning to school. We found a school which we like, we are going back to visit it tomorrow. Now we seem to banging our heads against a brick wall with the lea. Nobody knows what is going on, I have no idea whom I have to speak with, what procedure I am meant to go through etc. I have tried getting in touch with the sen officer (my son has a statement but attended mainstream school), but she is nowhere to be found. All I want is for my son to go back to this new school after january. Can anyone please help? Thanks, Debbie
