  1. Thank you, you have both been really, really helpful. He does know we have been trying to get help for him so that should help matters when we tell him.

I think we both need to get our heads round it before we talk to him. We were expecting the diagnosis from the things the lady at CAHMS said during the whole process but it's still hard to take it all in.....

  2. We are in a similar situation, we need to talk to our 8 yo daughter about our 10 yo's AS. She knows there is something going on and we have already told her we are getting some help and once we know ourselves what is going on we will have a talk with her. I found loads of books aimed at AS for kids on Amazon but I was thinking for our 10 yo, really hadn't thought about getting books for Liv but that is a really good idea. We have a 5yo too but I think he is too young to really understand yet, although last week when we were packing up to come home from holiday he did say to his dad, Harvey doesn't make any friends when we are on holiday does he....

  3. This is one of the questions I was going to ask :) My son is 10 years old and we heard we had the diagnosis for AS on Monday. We haven't told him yet, we do intend to, just unsure how to go about it. Like others have said he is becoming aware that he is different, he gets very upset sometimes about it and we are hoping this will help him understand things better. Anyway there is some great advice in this thread and I'm going to have a look for that book now.
