  1. DS (9) also doesn't like homework, it seems like it's just too much for him, he wants to forget about school when he comes home doesn't even talk about it. Sometimes homework gets done, sometimes not and if it's a story he has to write sometimes I end up writing as he does the work. I stopped pushing him to finish the work when I realised it was sometimes taking 2 - 3 hrs. If it doesn't get done I sometimes send a letter in( I only sometimes send a letter in because DS rarely hands things into the teacher anyway, half the time he comes home with finished homework still in his bag, last time I emptied it I found a weeks worth of homework even after telling teacher she has to specifically ask for it).
  2. I noticed when DS was around 2, I spoke to HV several times and she kept him on seeing him every few months long past he was 3 but never really done anything, just kept saying maybe he will grow out of it, give it time etc. She retired and DS started school, I couldn't get the teacher to listen to me, but the headmaster witnessed an incident and called me to the school insisting Ds see a counsellor when he was 5. Since then it's been a bit of an uphill struggle with some teachers supporting me, others insisting there was nothing wrong, and some not even knowing what Asperger's was. DS eventually got a diagnosis 8 mths ago at age 8.
  3. I used Can I Tell You About Asperger Syndrome and All Cats Have Asperger Syndrome. They really helped my son and family.

    siblings

Everyone has given great advice and I just wanted to say congratulations. Your son seems interested in his new sibling, but it will take tie for him to adjust, it can even take NT's time to adjust. 3 years ago my sis fell pregnant, she already had a child 2 yrs older than my son. Once the baby was born my son ignored her for almost 5 months, he also ignored my sister for several months, now he loves spending time at theirs again and his little cousin is the only one who he lets hug him or touch him.

    Another Newbie

Hi Everyone I'm a single mum to an 8 yr old son who was recently diagnosed with Aspergers. It's taken us 3 yrs of appointments for the final diagnosis and I'm now hoping we can start working to help him, mostly with his metldowns which have been getting more frequent.
