  1. Checked diary, and I'm afraid I'm only free Sat 9th August or Sun 10th August.

DH is likely to be away on the night on Friday 8th August, so would be abit of a rush for me/us to get to York on the Saturday, but could make it so long as it's not horribly early. I think we'd probably try and come minus kiddiewinks if my mum is happy to sit so we can escape for the whole day and night

Anyone else free that weekend?

  2. Thanks everyone. It turned out to be about an hour instead of 3! From what she has told me I think they have had fun anyway. She had to teach the doc how to brush his teeth and was disgusted, said "don't you know how to brush your teeth yet? urgh!!" She then had to look at catrtoon pics and describe how the people were feeling and how she knew. She didn't have a clue about that or how she could tell if she was happy or sad. She had to choose 5 objects out of a bag and make up a story about them. That was a doddle for her. Then she got to play with some dolls and did a murder mystery story with them!!! She said when she had finished playing with them, she had to turn one over them over, the doc asked what she was doing and she told him " turning it over cos I don't like the way its looking at me" In the end she had to hide the doll under the chair cos she was convinced it was looking at her funny  Her usual doc was in another room observing her through a one way mirror/window. She was supposed to retell a story to him, but refused declaring "I'm not standing and talking to him through that" So she told the doc in the room with her the story instead. Any way she had a great time which was good as she won't be worried if she has to go again. Just waiting to hear their conclusions now, they said they would be in touch 'soon' so hopefully it will be this week.

  3. Yes, that's him...although I don't know if it was confirmed or not.

I thought the other contestants would eat him for breakfast, but he seemed to be accepted for him, and did very well I thought.

I haven't watched BB since the one with Makosi and gang.

Tried to watch last year, but all these women went in, so switched off.

The best one was with Alex, Jade, Johnny and Kate  I think that was the first one we watched tbh.

  4. I stopped watching the X factor a few years ago because I became uncomfortable with how they were judging and airing the auditions and taking the mick out of young people, due to their appearance or weight or lack of ability. The sniggering, at the expense of some very young people, really p*ed me off so I switched off. It's not hard to treat someone with respect and kindly tell them if/why they feel they havn't got the vocal talent.

Kinda began to feel like I'd gone back centuries and was watching someone being thrown to the lions for entertainment.

Re watching disabled peeps on reality TV.......I've gotta say I became more aware of tourettes soley through watching Pete, and wasn't a previous contestant allegedly supposed to be an Aspie? I really warmed to the guy, not because he had supposedly had AS (I wasn't aware till he came out of the house), but just because he seemed a genuine fella with no "sides" to him.

I do think it would be wrong for someone to be voted for solely based on the fact they have a disability though.

  5. This made me laugh on the way home from school.

Stopped at traffic lights with the windows open, we could hear extremely loud, Ibiza-type dance music blaring out of another car. J sat in the back, wondering aloud whether it was coming from the car in front or the one behind. So I suggested we work it out: "Do you think it's the baldy old chap with the glasses behind us, or the three young lads in front who are vigorously moving their bodies around in time to the music?" J fell apart laughing - he realised how obvious it was once it was pointed out but it just hadn't occurred to him to weigh up the facts of the situation and balance what he could see with what he could hear. We laughed all the way home

  6. Watched Mr Magorium's Wonder Emporium tonight and thought Dustin Hoffman was smashing :notworthy:

Our DVD's have been coming thick and fast from our online peeps, so a quick round up of what we've watched recently.

The Other Boelyn Girl - I enjoyed it, DH went to bed

The Invasion - :( Disappointed tbh

Inside I'm Dancing - :tearful: Had me in floods of tears (youngest DD has same type of MD as the main character) played by James McAvoy who was superb

Charlie Wilson's War - Fab

I Am Legend - Disappointed with the ending :(

National Treasure Book of Secrets - DH enjoyed it, I didn't, found it too drawn out, and in some cases ridiculous

A Mighty Heart - DH fell asleep :shame: but I thought it was quite good :)

I took eldest DD to see the new Narnia film last week and we both loved it, but DH and DS went to see it and thought differently.

Have also been to see the new Indiana film, made no sense to me whatsoever

    SATC however was :thumbs::thumbs::thumbs:

  7. Life is quite topsy turvey at ours atm too.

Our youngest DD has been going on transition visits to her new school to prepare her for September, but it's causing abit of a backlash at her present school.

She's all over the place, growling at her teacher, being defiant, refusing to sit next to certain pupils, consistently saying at home after school "I've had another bad day today", something we'd never heard her say till recently.

I think the incidents are beginning to happen on a daily basis now, and her teacher has even stopped logging them in her home/school diary.

Roll on the end of term.

    >:D<<'> For you all Sooze2
