  2. Hi,

Daughter's hamster has died tonight. :( RIP Hamish. As soon as she started crying she set me off :crying: She kept asking "can we bury him, can we bury him" and to calm her down, we decided, in a moment of madness, to do it. there and then. A symbolic gesture. Didn't take into account it was dark, it had been raining all day, and it was late.....ho hum...

Anyway, there we are, stood in the sopping wet back garden. No lights, as the security light packed up last week. So daughter gets her torch.....it a dog one from Asda, which barks continuously when its lit  Hubby finds a spot which isn't a foot under water, and starts digging with a trowel...which snaps :( Someone walks past, looking at us just a little bit too long as we are all stood in back garden, in PJ's, digging a hole in the ground with a plastic spade we found in our youngest sand pit, with a barking torch. at night. End up gouging the earth out with spade and hands.in desperation...........I couldn't resist saying "thankgod its a hamster we're burying and not a dog" :D

Everytime to tried to fit him into the ground it wouldn't fit......we'd lovingly placed him in a tupperware container with cotton wool. So we just kept on digging and digging and it began to resemble a scene from Pet Cemetary :o

Eventually half an hour later, he was laid to rest, giraffe rocking toy on top incase of cats trying to dig him back up. We are off out on Sat to buy another and an appropriate stone for his resting place.....

Next time I'm going just going to take them down the vets to dispose of them like all the others.......:rolleyes:

As for our daughter, the tears soon stopped, and she laughed hysterically all the way thru it  . She went to bed talking excitedly about her NEXT hamster.....kids....

Mind, when I was her age my hamster died and I wouldn't accept it :tearful: Told my mum it was hibernating , even though it was stone cold and stiff as a board. Made her put it on a radiator to warm it up  Dread to think how long I made her keep it there

Ahhh sorry to hear about your hamster, losing a pet is never easy............I did laugh my sox off at the way you described the after event though! You did right burying him in a tupperware container, I buried Pogelius Dingleberry Esq. (rabbit) in a cardboard box, and next door neighbour dog got through the fence and dug him up!!! :o Poor old Pogelius got thrown aroung the garden like a rag doll!!! Dog smelled bootiful!!:sick:

  3. E'is no a Rat, Mr Fawlty - Bazeeel ees a HHHamstair!

Seriously, what you should have done was boil him up in a saucepan full of sugar-water, and spoon it onto your flower beds.... A mate of mine did that and got a lovely bloom of daffodils. Which is unusual - You usually get tulips from hamster jam......

(Joke courtesy of Chester Draws, c.1937.... " 'ere, is that a mastauche on your lip or......")

Seriously, RIP Hamish, and long live the Hamish (ii) :D>:D<<'>

    Hamster jam!!!!!!! :lol::lol::o:lol::lol:

  4. Hi everyone, being judged by the way I look is something Ive got used over the last 18 years, Im registered disabled because of spinal problems, I wish I had a ?1 for everytime I have pulled into a disabled parking space and had people give me disapproving looks, shaking thier heads at me etc. etc. I have on several occasions, had people come over to my car before I have had chance to turn off the engine, let alone display my blue badge, and point out that Ive parked in a disabled space, I was told by one elderly gent that I should be ashamed of myself and that I and people like me are the reason proper disabled folk like him can never get a parking space!!! He then walked off a damn sight quicker than Ive walked for 18 years!!! If people would just mind their own business, I for one would be a lot happier!!! :( Sorry...........I didnt intend going off on a mega rant..........it just happened :whistle::whistle:

  5. I am astounded.........my best friend(ex now ) recently told me that she didnt want to be my friend anymore because of my son who has AS, she doesnt believe there is anything wrong with him that a good hiding wouldnt cure and Ive made him the way he is by being a bad mum!!!! It really breaks my heart when I see articles like this one, because it fuels the fires of the idiots that think they are more qualified than the experts to dx our kids!! People like my so called mate have not got a clue :angry::angry:

Emailing the paper right now!!!!! xxlizzieXX

  6. Hi Shell, I havent actually read this book, but, from the way you have described it, it doesnt sound as though it is appropriate for a seven year old, a book discussing drug addiction (slimming pills) and child abuse( locking a child in a room!!) would be enough to scare any 7ry old silly!! If I were in your shoes I would tell the school that I would prefer if they provided reading material more appropriate for 7yr olds, I wouldnt want my son reading about those subjects at that tender age. I hope you sort it out Shell, I wish I could be of more help to you. Good luck. xxLizziexx

  7. Hi Justamom, I really feel for you and Keegan, I know how frustating this must be for you, K had similar problems at his last school, he would come home with detentions for writing (quote)like a five year old!! He is almost 12 now but he has ASD and writing is just one area he has difficulty with!! He also got detentions for being late on numerous occasions, even though we had an arrangement with senco, so that K could arrive late due to his difficulties with crowded places!! I had to contact school loads of times about K not getting the help he needs and in the end it turned out that the biggest majority of Ks teachers didnt know he had AS and thought he was just awkward and unruly!!! I think you need to get angry with them, find out if Keegans teachers are aware of him having AS and how he is affected by it, like me, you might find that very few of the teachers know of Keegans difficulties. I wish I could give you more advice. Hope you get things sorted soon. Lizziexxx

  8. Hello everyone,

It was beautiful over here too. :P:lol: but we are heading into winter on 1st June not long now, I looove the cold. Gotting down below 15 at nights but the days from 17-25 depending on cloud.

Havent had a lot of rain. Need some rain.

All my roses are in flower, supposed to cut them right back in June so they do well next spring. Any of you keen gardeners.

Is there something you can get to repell the wasps, outdoor pesticides for spiders/wasps

    H.

Hi Hailey, Im afraid the only thing I can think of to repell the kind of spiders you get in Oz, is an extremely large and heavy hobnail boot!! sorry, but Im absoluteley terrified of creepy crawlies!!! :o Lizzie xx
