  5. Hi Claire, My boy was 4 last July, born 2002 also! I won't deny we have hard days, but since my son has been at school things have changed a lot and he is collected by the school bus each day, so I see some of the poor children who are affected by really terrible physical and mental disabilities and I just see how lucky we are to have Ellis who can walk and run. He may not talk, but he uses gesture to communicate and we get on fine. I hope that in time his speech will develop, but if not I will be here for him, as will his Dad and his Sister. Keep strong and push for an answer/diagnosis, you are the Mum and Mum's always know when something is wrong or amiss! I have cried soooo many tears and shouted and screamed in frustration and asked 'why my boy?', my Hubby has too, but now we know we can't stay that way, we have to move forward and make a happy life for us all. It will get easier! Get it out when you have to, Crying is a good way of releasing all that frustration. Lisa xx <'>

  7. Hi All!, This is my first post, I have been lurking for a while and decided to come on board! I'm 33, married with two beautiful children, a boy aged 4 and a girl aged 2. My son is Austistic and Non Verbal and was diagnosed in November 2005 when he was 3 and a half, after two years of me trying to get a professional to confirm my suspicions. He is also Globally Delayed. My son attended a mainstream nursery for seven months and the staff there were instrumental in us receiving the support and some of the answers to our concerns. He has been attending a small special needs school for 8 months now and is very happy there. He is in a class of 6 children, all with ASD difficulties. Life at the moment is relatively calm and we are all happy, we have had some challenging and traumatic times, but things are very upbeat right now. My son is affectionate, responsive, giggly and very active!! Just a year ago life was uncertain and I was an emotional wreck, my son was unresponsive, unaware, screaming non stop, faddy (still is to a point!) and made no eye contact with anybody. The boy I have today is a millions miles from the confused little one a year ago! Life isn't perfect but it's good enough for us! I am looking forward to sharing stories, advice and hopefully laughs with many of you!
