    using trains

You don't need to go underground. You go out the door of one, cross the road, and go in the door of the other. I'd avoid St Pancras at lunchtime - people use the eateries for lunch. I recommend St Pancras in the evening - the roof is amazing!
  2. Lizard (Thanks - I knew it wasn't comma, but always wondered what it was! )
  3. Hyphen. (As in you should have used a hyphen given this is one word association. I'll probably be accused of tormenting you over your grammar now. )
  4. Bed (as in 'hiding under'! )
  5. Absolutely. Have to say I am now laughing at how someone can play the hurt tortured sole quite so badly... My previous comment was nothing about grammar/spellng/education and you are soooo way off the mark in the assumptions you make of me. Let me clarify (although I suspect you do actually understand and are just trying to rephrase things so it looks like I'm 'attacking' you when that's clearly not the case ). You said 'we can only speak for ourselves'. I changed that to 'you can only speak for yourself'. This is nothing to do with grammar (the grammar monster of the forum would have to tell us if either/both/neither are correct, I don't have a clue!). I had trouble with your statement because it implies a generalised 'this is what being ASD is and this is how everyone with ASD behaves'. That's what I have a problem with, and would have a problem with whoever said it. You can only speak for your experience much of which may be nothing to do with ASD, in the same way I can only speak for my experience. I can't say the way I am is all to do with ASD and exactly how everyone with ASD should be and neither can you. We're all individuals (thankfully ).
  6. That'll be the one I was thinking of - never was very good with names! Hair.

    DLA Renewal

I think it's entirely dependent on individual cases. Mine was awarded for two years and they said at the time this was because although some of my issues were stable some could improve with treatment so they wanted to review the level of my award intermitently. My brother's is indefinate because he'll always have severe autism/LD and is always going to need 24 hour care.
  8. Nice card, unfortunate acronym. I thought you were screaming about the card!
  9. Life. Sorry, it was a joke, but obviously didn't come across as such - very warped sense of humour at the moment. If anyone wants to put down their so called 'menial' jobs, they need to watch the episode of Undercover Boss US that was on Channel 4 last night. The boss who you would say is the educated skilled one couldn't do the so called unskilled menial jobs.

    DLA Renewal

Thanks Lynden, I've downloaded their pdf form you can fill in on the computer as I have my one saved from last year so can copy and paste.
  11. The trouble I see with this (from experience with the autism alert cards in England) is that it's fine if you approach the police, but if they approach you and you then reach into your pocket/bag to get out the card this can be misconstrued. This happened to me and I was jumped on by the officers and pushed onto the pavement because they said there was a possibility I might be getting a weapon out (well I do live in dodge-ville! ).
  12. Nope! But as it's only to one place and no problems anywhere else I've told them to sort it! It's more of a problem to them not me if they can't communicate with me, so I'm leaving it to them to sort.

    Hospital

Wonder if someone can help me on whether this is normal policy and if so what I can do about it. I've got to go and have a day procedure at he hospital. No problem, I'm used to hospitals. However, they're going to sedate me and they've sent me a letter saying I must take someone with me who can accompany me home afterwards and stay with me for 24 hours in case of complications, or I can't have the procedure. I don't have anyone I can ask to do that, so what do I do? Surely I can't be the only Billy-No-Mates in the world?

    DLA Renewal

They have sent me the 'big one'. Thankfully I do have a copy of my last form, as does my GP, so at least I can do some copying and just add in the new bits (as if it wasn't long enough already...) I shall file it in my 'to do but not worry about at the moment' tray.
  15. Do you ever feel like someone's trying to tell you something?
  16. Does anyone know if there is a deadline to complete DLA renewal forms? My award runs out on 1st January and I've recently been sent new forms to renew it. At the moment I don't have the time/energy to get the forms done, plus the people I would need to help me aren't around till uni starts back fully late September/October. Is there a deadline I have to complete the forms to - I can't find any mention other than them saying as soon as possible? Also, do I have to start from scratch? Will they have access to my last form, or do I have to write the same and send the same evidence where there hasn't been a change? Can I get away with saying 'refer to last form' and just write about changes? If I have to write it again, can I copy from the last form? Also, with the letter they sent me a paper form. Is it okay to download and use a form I type on as my writing's so poor they'd have difficulty reading a handwritten form.
  17. Cookie dough with hot chocolate fudge sauce, a caramel core, fudge cubes and several chocolate flakes - now that's nearing on perfection.
  18. Customers. See also Kathryn's post above. ..and I'm bored of tedium. You're clearly unable to accept that people have opinions other than your own and that there may be more than one world view. You seem to have a need to have the last word and will construct elaborate arguments and be quite defensive in order to allow this, dismissng anything that doesn't fit your view as irelevant. I don't have the time to waste arguing against someone like that because I do actually have a life (be that menial or otherwise... )
  19. Have you ever worked on a checkout? Your argument would suggest you haven't. There's a heck of a lot more to the role than the 'skills' needed for a self-service checkout. And as to anyone using them - have you not seen people totally messing up the use of self-service - apparently not as 'easy' as you would suggest.
  20. Also observe how the word 'pedantic' (adj.) may come to the fore when one feels threatened...
