  1. Bid...I've seen you with your littlies...remember the rock climbing and the picnic?....you are a good caring mum....but you need to have more confidence in yourself...you should be proud of what you've achieved....I think you are pretty amazing..and your kids are so proud of YOU...that was so obvious that day.....I can't do cartwheels...my kids were most disapointed in me.....I think mums are very good at the guilt thing...but you definately shouldn't feel guilty.....you take good care of all your littlies....and I think the hospital need a good telling off for cancelling dd2 appointment last year.....s

  2. oh this is so silly....

I've just been sorting through all my paper work, am trying to sort both kids stuff out and put it in expanding files as I seem to be drowning under a mounting pile...had to read some of it to sort it where I need to put it.....it included all the letters to and from the LEA over the last year trying to get son into a special school, which we have now managed to do.......all the DLA stuff all daughter's medical and school reports.... and for no particular reason, I've just started crying....can't explain why.....sorry for being so daft....not sure I can cope with the school run in this mess....but there isn't anyone else to get them so I've got to.....

feel a bit better just writing this...will be ok in a minute...

  3. >:D<<'> Hedders...most of us have these sort of experiences...I could reel off a long list...one that really sticks out in my mindi s one 2 or 3 years ago..me, son, ASD, daughter, ADHD had just been to the Saturday morning pictures, and were in the queue at McDonalds...the film had been a Christmas film and my little girl was waving her arms around and jumping...a man started tutting about how badly children behaved these days... and my son, who is secretly quite protective of her (don't let him know I said that!)

and was listening to Always Look on the Bright Side of Life repetitively at the time, waggled his finger at the old man and said

'if you don't stop moaning, they should take your teeth away'

that's got to be my favourite response, but I'd never dare use it.

  4. It sounds lovely Bid, did it help dd's neck?

I've been wondering whether to try something like this on my dd....just to calm her down a bit......have tried drama lessons to channel her energy....but she's too excited about going for the whole week....do you think it would help?!

  5. Hi Karen, >:D<<'>

........is all well at school since they returned back from the Christmas break?...........is he struggling in class or having any problem being picked on.........or are there any changes that you don't know about? Maybe a chat with his teach might shed a bit of light on the subject.......

  6. Do you ever get home from the school run,

step in your front door, :hypno:

have a look around the total chaos and think someone has set a scud missile off indoors?:shame::whistle:

and then do you spend the morning doing everything BUT the housework and decide to tackle it tomorrow ?

    I do every day

  7. Hi Mandy,

Just before Christmas, the LEA were trying to get my son into the mainstream secondary school for this Sept, I visited the SENCO with all his paperwork, previous letters from the LEA saying that they agreed a specialist placement would be suitable, and the other letters where they had changed their minds and were looking at mainstream.......she agreed to say to the LEA they couldn't meet his needs in mainstream, and contacted the LEA that day. It worked well, effectively closing that door, and the next letter I got from the LEA was a letter confirming a place at special school. It might be a good tactic for you to try!

  8. We visited the two special schools that son has been offered places at....

both are very good schools which made the decision harder!

After weighing up all the pros and cons of both, we've chosen the local school, it has a small ASD class, and son knew 2 or 3 boys from his special needs youth club. It's only two years old, so has all new, modern -up to date equipment...teaches life skills and and all the things we were wanting.....(....I found out from IPSEA... that the transport issue wasn't strictly legal....for any one else in that position, I would have to let them name the local school and then appeal at SENDIST...)

  9. Hi Kathryn and Karen, thank you...yes it's good news about him getting a special school placement....I've arranged to visit both schools on Monday with my other half and son, I've spoken to the LEA and they are giving us some extra time to decide...we only had until the 21 jan to make a decision, and it's now been extended until 15 Feb...I will contact IPSEA...because the generic school have said that they can meet his needs, that makes it his nearest suitable school, but if we can find something that they can't meet his needs with, then it changes to the MLD school being nearest suitable school and that will change the whole situation and we won't be responsible for the transport.

They are asking us to sign a form which says if we accept the MLD placement, then we are responsible for transport, they can offer us a consessionary seat for him which will incur a cost and the seat will will be reviewed on a termly basis...which I'm not happy about signing...feels like blackmail....so that's what I will be asking IPSEA about. If we feel unable to sign for responsibility then they will proceed with the generic school. The lea is writing back to say what circumstances tranport would stopped if we took the concessionary seat.

(ps sorry it took me so long to reply, just worked 2 nights, very tired, and was on the phone all of Friday)

  10. ...sorry...should be clearer..just worked a night..didn't word that very well...the LEA have agreed that he needs a specialist placement, and both the MLD and generic special school have said that they can meet his needs...because the generic special school is the local specialist provision...the transport will be provided there, but if we accept the place at the MLD school...we will have to be responsible for the transport..the transport place will be concessionary and will be reviewed each term

  11. Update......just before christmas the LEA had changed their minds about special school and were trying to get him into the local mainstream secondary....so I visited the SENCO there, and she agreed to say that they couldn't meet his needs and contacted the LEA THAT DAY.......had a letter this morning....he has been offered a placement at both schools....IS DOWN TO TRANSPORT...we will be responsible for transport if he goes to the MLD school and cost will be 83 a term, but if another child nearer moves into the area he will lose the transport place....am very relieved that he's got a specialist placement..... need to make a decision...the generic school has a small ASD class and the transport will be free
