  1. Mel, you must be chuffed, well done that lad.

My lad is 30, hates having his nails cut but has a fear of cutting his own nails. I tried sticking some 'nails' made from laminate on to a wooden hand and getting him to practice cutting them with clippers. His attempt was ok if a little clumsy but sadly he still refuses to cut his own nails.

Even though he hates the process he's now happy to let someone cut them and is grateful for the support.

  2. Sorry if I'm being a little dim, but what is the victory that is being referred to? We still don't have over 100 MPs committed to being in Parliament next Friday, so even if every MP that turned up voted in favour, it wouldn't go to the next stage. :(

I've emailed my MP (who happens to be a more well known person) but she still hasn't replied or committed to being there. What's the next stage of harassment?

We do have over 100 MPs committed - in fact we have 115 MPs committed to be in parliament! This is part of an email I received this morning from the NAS.

Public and parliamentary support for Cheryl Gillan MP and the Autism Bill has been overwhelming. To date around 6,000 people have contacted their MP about the Bill, and we have now exceeded our target to have 100 MPs attend the debate in Parliament on 27 February (in fact we now have 115 MPs)!

The strength of public opinion and the knock-on effect in parliament has prompted the Government announcement above. The measures set out by Ministers cover all aspects of the Autism Bill. Cheryl Gillan MP said: "It was critically important to me that my Private Members' Bill should cover an area that ordinarily would be overlooked ? today's announcement is a testament to the weight of support from my colleagues and autism campaigners. I will keep campaigning until I hear the Government pledge to fully support people affected by autism in Parliament. The real test will be in how they implement this package of measures in the long term."

The parliamentary support for autism that you have helped to build, and the debate on 27 February in the House of Commons, can now be used to secure these Government commitments, and to explore the details of how each measure will be implemented.

  3. The object of the game is to move the red block around

without getting hit by the blue blocks or touching the black walls.

If you can go longer than 18 seconds you are phenomenal. It's been

said that the US Air Force uses this for fighter pilots.

They are expected to go for at least 2 minutes.

Give it a try but be careful...it is addictive!!

  4. Hi Suz,

I have sent you a PM.

I have two sons, the eldest is 30, he was diagnosed with autism at 19. He has been living in an ASD specialist placement out of county for 10 years. Apart from the odd blip, he leads a good life and gets the support he needs.

My younger son is much happier now that he understands his problems, he's lucky to have a group of friends that he met at school. Home life is very good. My husband was diagnosed with AS in his mid 50's.

  5. Hi Suz, :)

Welcome to the forum. I have a son of 28, he suffered depression for some years, he had a late daignosis of AS at 23. He's now 28 and has had long periods of unemployment. At the moment he's working two days a week and still living at home.

I help run an ASD Family support group in Berkshire. Feel free to PM me if you want any information or just want to chat.

This is a great forum, hope you stick around. >:D<<'>
