UltraMum Report post Posted February 12, 2007 Haven't read it all yet but may be of use for those wishing to have such a placement for their child - in particular councils do not necessarily have any direct cost comparisons for the different types of placement ... Councils have responded to the steeply increasing costs of out of authority placements by developing in-house provision for complex special needs but such decisions are not always based on a fully costed option appraisal. Councils and their partners are not in a position to know whether they are achieving value for money for their out of authority placements for SEN because they have not brought together the information needed to assess this. They are not aware of the full unit costs of either in-house or out of authority packages of support and have insufficient understanding of out of authority providers? costs. http://www.audit-commission.gov.uk/reports...NATIONAL-REPORT
