SallyAspie Report post Posted June 18, 2007 I think it would be interesting to see a reality TV show in which 19 aspies and an NT are given the task of working and socialising together for a month. Thing is the NT doesn't know that all the other participants have AS and has to deal with being the odd one out with no idea why (rather like what happened to me). pingu Report post Posted June 18, 2007 That is a brilliant idea. i understood this post immediatly. Hubby was tempted to say "It wouldnt be fair" but when i explained it to him he also thinks its a brilliant idea. My son can sniff out another aspie from a social setting and play "individually" / "together", for hours. leaving me talking to the parents of the other child and discovering that her child also has the condition, so i know that if you put 13 aspies in a room together they would understand each other instantly. Yet ADD the NT, and for once its going to be his/her social skills that are going to be useless It would be intersting to see what else an NT could rely on in this situation. Yes love it. I think it would be very sucsessful and a must see for others to understand this condition totally. A Brilliant Idea for Autism Awareness would you say? <'> shaz

Tally Report post Posted June 18, 2007 It would be an interesting experiment, but I don't think it would be very interesting to watch 19 aspies.
SallyAspie Report post Posted June 19, 2007 P.S What happened to you, sorry forgot to ask in last post. <'> Well basically I got thrown into a world of NTs, expected to be just like them and frustrated because I couldn't be. Probably what happened to most aspies of my generation.
pearl Report post Posted June 19, 2007 It would be an interesting experiment, but I don't think it would be very interesting to watch 19 aspies. Why? Just as interesting as watching NTs I would have thought, have you seen Big Brother this year? (yawn)
kate26 Report post Posted June 19, 2007 I think this is a really great idea, reality shows are very popular at the moment and this would be interesting and unique. Why don't you send channel 4 an e mail, and see if they would take it up.
Canopus Report post Posted June 19, 2007 The AS community should definitely establish facilities to produce TV programmes and videos. I happen to know a drama teacher who works with people with AS, who has produced several high quality plays. If a TV channel was interested in the idea then it could become a reality.
