andreasea Report post Posted September 7, 2007 HI THERE, MY OLD HEALTH VISITOR CALLED TODAY AND SAID SHE HAD BEEN TO A CONFERENCE WHERE A BRILLIANT PROFFESSOR WAS SPEAKING.HE IS A SPECIALIST IN CHILD PHSYCHIATRY AUTISM ETC SHE SAID I SHOULD TRY AND GET TO SEE HIM WITH MY SON(AGE 3 ASD) DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I GO ABOUT THIS. I AM NOT IN HIS AREA HE IS IN LONDON AND I AM IN SUSSEX.(HE IS WITH NHS HOSPITAL) I AM NOT HAPPY WITH MY CURRENT PIED -VERY NEGATIVE,JUST GAVE HIM THE LABEL LAST YEAR AND SEES HIM EVERY 6 MONTHS FOR NOTHING. IF I CANT GET REFERRED, DOES ANYONE HAVE A CLUE ABOUT HOW MUCH A PRIVATE APPT COST??? I DONT KNOW IF YOU CAN DO THAT WITH EVERY DR??? madme Report post Posted September 8, 2007 Some london hospitals such as the Maudsley offer tertiary referral appointments ie where it is a complex case such as comorbids where the dx is unclear. I think GOSH also does this. You would need to raise this wth your gp but usually the referral must come from a peadiatrician. You could call the secretary to the consultant that you saw- and find out how to get the referral, what the criteria would be. They are usually v helpful.
