ScienceGeek Report post Posted December 15, 2007 So I'm a naturally messy disorganised person. I've got my mum coming to stay next weekend for a week, she is a tidy freak, obsessively so. Because of this difference our standards of tidy are very different, and I'm not really in the mood for her criticisms. So today I have been tidying like a mad thing, our flat was a complete tip by my standards let alone hers! So tired now, and am barely done. Anyone else got obsessively clean parents/family? Any funny stories?
brooke Report post Posted December 15, 2007 Unfortuatley im one of the obbsessively clean parents, i dont know why either as a child i was very messy but i am always cleaning to the point my hubbys thinks i have OCD!! I get really miserable when my house is a mess so im constantly hoovering picking things up dusting ect ect!!!!!!!! And its still a mess i can never get it looking like those lovely perfect houses!!!!! I do let the boys have their toys downstairs though i dont mind that its just the dust that gets me!!!! Im not as bad as my mum though which is where i get it from she even cuts open bags of potateos instead of just ripping a hole in the bag
Kathryn Report post Posted December 15, 2007 I'm also naturally messy and disorganised when it comes to the house, so I sympathise, ScienceGeek. My mum in law is obssessively tidy and her home looks like an illustration for Ideal Home mag. Before she comes to us,I spend hours cleaning knowing that it's never going to come up to her standards. To be fair, she never criticises or shows disapproval - I just feel hugely embarrassed about it myself. How are you going to keep the house tidy till next week? Move out in the meantime? If it was me, the house would soon be back to its original state in no time. K x
ScienceGeek Report post Posted December 15, 2007 Well when I used to live with my mum I used to drive her crazy by moving things or turning things the wrong way round. She hated going into my room because it was the complete opposite to the rest of the house. I lost count of the amount of times we argued because of me leaving stuff laying around and the state of my room. I remember I would put something down and just behind me she would be picking things up or complaining I should put things away
