JenRose Report post Posted February 28, 2008 had ds,s initial planning meeting today at his special school. it was BRILL they talked so positively about ds and how much he has accomplished there, the head teacher says he expects a "blip" when ds transfers to year 7 and that his school is best equipped to cope with that, that in his opinion ds wouldnt cope with a mainstream environment, that he needs small classes,1-2-1 support and help with socialising etc. the lea did not argue neither did they make lets put him back into mainstream noises which they had said they would do last year. so he,s safe until his statement review which isnt until december this year. oh and the head also got the lea to agree to having their head EP do a proper asessment of ds,s strengths etc cos they werent able to carry out one last year cos ds was too anxious, the lea lady ummed and aahed and he said "well you are leaving yourself in an extremely vulnerable position if you do not carry out one as this young lad is extremely intelligent and we need to know exactly what his strengths and weaknesses are" so she said she would speak to the boss of SEN (my mate who got angry with me last year!) feel so proud of ds and how far he,s come and they also said they expect a level 5 on his sats in may, not bad for a boy who spent 2 years out of school, i nearly burst into tears when they said that!!!!
