Bagpuss Report post Posted April 15, 2008 We've got a cream stair carpet ( I know, I know, bad choice....but I was thinking light and airy when I chose it )...I had also assumed (wrongly) that by making sure no one went upstairs in their shoes, it'd stay clean. The landing is fine, and tbh, so are most of the stairs, but the bottom of the stairs is looking awful. I've tried the Vanish carpet stain remover, and it didn't help much, and I've just given it a good scrub with washing liquid........I don't really want to pay for someone to come in clean it professionally, so was wondering if anyone had any tips for me to try? Thanks
Mumble Report post Posted April 15, 2008 You can hire those carpet cleaning machines - a sort of small scale version of what the professionals use - and I think they come with the shampoo and stuff you need. Dunno where from or how much it costs though - not much use really ... Otherwise, buy a rug and put it over the dirty areas ...

Bagpuss Report post Posted April 15, 2008 I've had a rug down for quite a while now, but being the base of the stairs, it looked abit daft. Thanks for the tips
