hedders Report post Posted March 3, 2009 Well we have taken another small step forward. After 4 yrs we now have been told the school will referr our dd to an ed psy she is 8yrs old. Anything i need to know or be wary about?? Does it take long for an ed psy to assess her. WHen she is assessed, does this mean she moves to school action plus ?? Will she recieve different support or provision ?? So many questions, just a need to know mummy. Thanks
mummy6 Report post Posted March 3, 2009 hi, School Action + is when school request advice from outside agencies. I.E. ed psychs, speech and lang. .. so she might already be on school action+ The assessment will be great at identifying areas where your dd needs support and what provision can be put in place. Do you have a local parents partnership? They are great at advising you and supporting you with any meetings. Good luck. mummy.x
lynne Report post Posted March 3, 2009 If it is for a rushed assessment than the Ed Psy will see the child within a week other wise it normaly takes 1 -2 months for your child to be seen. The child will be seen in the classroom session and observed than he normally produces a report. Sometimes they see them several times
chris54 Report post Posted March 4, 2009 I will tell you how it works at sons school. EP makes regular visits to school and between EP and SENCO they decide which child will be seen, which is priority. Our EP is very good and has a lot of positive input and has helped / is helping the school with putting in for our sons statutory assessment. She is seeing our son again next week and then will share her thought with us (and SENCO) afterwards.
