Hi I joined last yr but haven't posted before and I'm not sure if I'm posting correctly - I am a lone parent with a 9yr old son who has ASD/ADHD/ODD - hoping to get some advice as having big issues with school and not able to approach them without them ganging up on me!! :(

Well now you've worked it out, can you solve my wireless connectivity problem!

What is your local Parent Partnership Service like? Or is there a parents support group that can come with you to a meeting?

Hi DiDi

I have a teenager with the same needs, welcome to the forum, It is not nice when the school are not supportive, know to well how that feels and at 8yrs old removed him from a Primary school to start a fresh in another with a statement.

Does your son have a Statement of Special Educational Needs?

My son is now in a special school that caters for children with ASD/ADHD/ODD/Dyslexia plus more, and he now recieves many more therapies, he is now reading and writing something he had a pure phobia of as in the past he was punished for making mistakes, not any more.

I absaloutly recommend National Autistic Society Educational Helpline, Contact a family and IPSEA who can advise you further the link is here, also read throw the Education section there is a wealth of information.

I did try my local Parent partnership but found them to side with the school and they had no idea what sensory issues where and Anxiety symptoms so I went to contact a family, in some ares there is outreach workers, sadly our local outreach worker is no long available, but she was much more effective and eventually we did get a statement, then a specialist school.

It will take time to gather the evidence especially when your school are not working for your son and you, so I advise you to defo contact the educational helplines in the link.

Welcome to the forum.x

Welcome to the forum - you seem to be doing fine but please ask if you're not sure how to do something on the forum. :)
